what do with a bunch of plums

neighbors gave us a couple of pounds of plums, can't eat 'em fast enough so what should I do with them?

Wine, though I'm not sure a couple pounds will make much. Probably just eat 'em all and deal with the outcome.

My dad has a very productive plum tree. And every year, he picks the tree clean at the same time and gives me all of them. Like 10lbs.
I love plums but even I cannot eat that many.
Plus I only like ripe plums. I work for the public schools, so I usually just bring them there. Give it to some essential workers, put a bow in it and make it look pretty.

Put em in a jar with rock sugar and vodka. Seal it and put it in a dark place for 6 months. Now you have ume wine.

I have been picking my neighbors tree which is huge. I bring a bag of plumbs to all events where there are others involved so I use them to give them away! I've been told that I can make jam but I do not have the experience but I'd love to learn. Anyone out there in BARF land know how to make plumb jam?

good friend of mine lives in north carolina, lives in an old victorian with a huge farm-house kitchen. every time i visit, we cook like crazy. last trip we made plum jam (also raspberry and fig - she grows tons of fruits, berries and vegetables). wouldn’t say i ‘know’ how to make it - i was mostly the fruit clean and prep person while she did the cooking and canning. seems pretty straightforward though (clean, chop and cook the fruit with sugar and lemon juice - then put in mason jars using the standard canning method of boiling the jars and lids in water prior to filling).

Split then in half along the pit and dry them. You don’t need a fancy dehydrator but it helps. Just a low oven. Then they can used in many of the suggested recipes above.

When we were young my sister and I would take them up onto the roof of our house with a couple of tennis rackets and pretend we were Billie Jean King serving for the win at Wimbledon. When mom got home and asked what happened to all the plums we’d tell her we shared them with the neighbors.
