What CSA/local fish/meat/produce delivery service do you use?

Marin Sun farms. Quality is good, but prices have been going up while selection down. They deliver to your door now though.

It's OK. I get a free range chicken once in a while in a box, don't order it specifically, and it's quite tasty. Although those are kind of rare. Mostly it's just ground beef, some ribs, rib eye type of stuff. Mostly beef, with lamb. Sometime goat and piggy.

I used to special order eggs from them, and those were quite good. Omelet was much fluffier then from store bought eggs.

Okay it's early and I'm probably mathing wrong but I just checked the numbers for that Marin meat CSA thing and they seem kinda odd.

Chicken package: 16lbs at 7.12$/lb
Meat package: 17lbs at 12.47$/lb
Meat Package 11lbs at 11.72$/lb
Meat Package 6 lbs at 11.66$/lb

Don't most things get cheaper when you buy in bulk?

This isn't hormone packed feed lot meat you buy at the grocery.

Yeah I get that. That's not the issue. Just seems strange that if I buy one of their larger packages the price per lb actually goes up. Should at least stay the same, right? Why not buy three of their "small" CSAs instead of one of their large ones?

I usually Yahoogle my way to glory but I found that the reviews were too scarce and variable to get a good idea of what's going.

adding $7.50 pp for vegetables is a bit much.

Between Kelly and I, our weekly grocery bill is $175 and we eat quality organic home prepared meals. Almost every meal is prepared from scratch at home. There are very few times I use prepared foods.

I did the math to see how many boxes I would need, a minimum of 3 "more" boxes and we would have zero diversity in our meals.

fwiw - Tonight is shrimp tacos, beans and rice, with mango salsa :drool (only thing I am not preparing is the tortilla's, I can't make them better than the organic ones I buy)

We had Greenheartsfamilyfarm. We got 2 boxes a month and 24 insanely good eggs. Problem was there was soooo much produce for a family of 3. It was impossible to keep up so we canceled.
