Sharing to get inspirations on what to do - riding destinations, maintenance/repair, shopping/buying/selling activities, etc.

My SuperDuke sat in the garage thru-out November/December and the battery got too low to start when I got back from the holidays in January, so I finally started using a Battery Tender Plus to charge up my bike batteries. Prior to this I've always relied on riding each bike regularly, but it got harder as the number of bikes increased. I just added a battery tender cable to my GS, and will do that to my WR250F so all the bikes will have cables for the tender.

3 weeks ago I replaced a $0.99 o-ring for the gear position sensor housing in my KTM 950SM to stop a slow oil leak. It was satisfying to not have to put a piece of cardboard on the floor below to catch the leak.

2 weeks ago it was raining all weekend so I started with valve adjustment on my GS but didn't get far - couldn't pull out the ignition coil boot from the cylinder without a special tool. I'll get the $7 tool from SJ BMW this weekend and try again.

The current plan is to ride Hwy 1 south then go inland on Nacimiento-Fergusson on Saturday. If I'm free on Sunday I'll attempt the GS valve job again.

After thinking about it forever I finally did the valve adjustment on my R1200GS today. It was almost as easy as it looked on YouTube. Taking my time, it took about 3 hours. I've done oil changes that took longer (had a hell of a time getting the filter off.) After that, I did a short ride around the block, the bike felt fine, so I cleaned up, felt good, and planned to take it out for a ride tomorrow. I got inside the house, sat in from of my laptop and looked at a photo of the GS valve adjustment I had found before, and suddenly realized - god damn it, when I switched from the right side of the bike to the left, I forgot to reverse the feeler gauges so the yellow gauges (exhaust) faced the front. The means the intake-exhaust clearance on the left side was reversed. :facepalm

I'm so depressed right now. Hopefully, the second time'll go faster tomorrow.

exploring!
Ride for work, ride to see friends, ride to get groceries, ride for fun. Ride to commute to my desk jobs.

Ride to the Russian River to sit on my friend's porch and watch the River passing by, ride to Stinson for the view from the overlook. Ride to Oregon to see Mama.

This weekend, not a lot to do to either bike. I'll check the oil in the dr for shits and giggles. Otherwise she's in fine shape. :ride
