What are you doing in preparation for 2017?

2017 trackdays are just around the corner. What are you guys and gals doing in anticipation for another fun year at the track?

I just ordered some new gearing and brake pads from Vortex for the trusty CBR1000RR. Also installed a new air filter yesterday.

Hoping the weather calms down a little before late February. Also, may get carpal tunnel surgery soon to help with some numbness in the hands that I had last season.

Confused
Getting some fairings painted, but getting yelled at and told to get the f out of the paint shop while asking for the color book.

So, it's all going well.

Basic maintence, fluid changes, overall inspection of things. More of helping my buddies get ready for their first trackday.

Front Ohlins installed in the CBR, cleaned everything out, silencer from Jay Murray to be made, brake fluids flushed, better frame sliders installed. Removed some weight. Found the rattling bolt that had been driving me nuts for 2 years. The normal stuff.

Want to find, cheap tire warmers and a slipper clutch.

Of forgot to mention I already got new fork springs for my weight in the front, went with racetech 1.10 kg/mm and just got the ohlins rear shock refreshed at Kyle Racing, Mike the tech is awesome there has helped me out incredibly with questions and concerns during and after work hours!

Well, a lot of my winter plans got shot in the ass when I broke my leg on a dirt bike in early December.:x

So, now, it's just everything that it takes to get a brand-spanking new bike race ready (thankfully have some help) and trying to heal up as best and quickly as I can despite everything that's NOT in my favor.

Realized I had some HSA money saved up I could dig into though, so that'll help make up for the bike money I lost paying for medical bills - almost enough to finish up the bike, too :)

Other than that, pouting that I'm not riding or able to do much of anything in the way of physical training for next year other than weight loss - been able to do that. Upper body isn't losing anything, but that damn leg is gonna be problematic for awhile.

Needing to stick another motor in the 750, compression down. Got Ohlins cartridges for the 1000 and Mike Canfield did the work, also fork extenders. Went through both bikes, oil changes, etc. Needed a Bazazz repair, they did it on warranty even though it's several years old, very cool. Fresh rubber. Fork seals on the 750 as well. I'm planning on being up and functional. O, chucked the stock 1000 front calipers and put in R1 calipers, and rebuilt them and the ones on the 750. New brake lines on the 1000.

Well after almost two years since my last trackday because of shoulder and back issues, I'm coming back. Picked up a 06 GSXR600 from a friend, so I've been doing routine maintenance and installed an ohlins shock. Should be ready to go by the end of next month. Plan on losing 10 lbs so I'll fit in my suit. Will work on core strength and some cardo.

Thanks for the great responses everyone.

AFM199, it's always good to have a fresh rubber.

Honey Badger, I broke my Tib/fib a few years ago and then the same fibula last year. Was maybe a second a lap slower when I wasn't able to hang off that side of the bike much. I feel your pain though. The other leg does get strong from hopping around.

Superhawk, that will be a great bike. If the brake lever feels like shit after 3 laps let me or anyone else know and we'll tell you how to fix it.

Bambam43, what year Gixxer? Loved my 05. Had to put Honda calipers on it though (R1 calipers work great too). And go -1, +1 on the gearing.

Northwood, buy Woodcraft warmers. Not super cheap but you get what you pay for. My cheap warmers lasted less than a year, while my Woodcrafts are 7 years old and are perfect. I smile every time I put them on.

Roadstergal and Stang, I'm jealous of your riding. Just MX for me until the end of Feb. at the earliest. Lots of MX though. Keeps me sharp and in shape.

Had my nerve test today for carpal tunnel syndrome (CTS). I tested as positive for CTS and "moderate" for nerve damage. Worse in my right wrist (I could have told them all that!)
I see the surgeon in 2 weeks to schedule surgery. I was told today that I'm in the "sweet zone" as the surgery should eliminate all the numbness and pain, and that the nerve is probably not permanently damaged at this point.

Planning on trying slicks on the 750 this year. But first, going to make an appointment with Gerry Piazza and get the frame checked (since I bought it as a salvaged bike). I want to eliminate this bad shudder I'm getting under hard braking. :(

The gixxer I'm picking up is also 2005 , did you ever try Brembo calipers from a latter model ???? , And the bike also comes with a season pass from Fun Track Dayz :thumbup
