Hurricane!

If you are new to this thread, please take few minutes to read the responses and see how things have turned out.

Sorry, don't know how to imbed but this site shows a pretty angry little Odile.
We got a first little wave of rain an hour or so ago and are awaiting the hellstorm of a Category 4 Huracán.
Last week's hurricane was no biggy but people are shitting themselves here.
Got the neighbors POS HD piggy and the other guy's KLR in my extra garage space, 'cause I am a good neighbor that way.
I will post some pics if anything of interest pops up.
It is about 70F right now and I for one am digging the coolness.

Are you at sea level? What's the expected storm surge? All my east coast relatives who live on barrier islands haul their stuff to the second floor when a hurricane was imminent.

In the Marina Fiesta cam it shows the innermost, old marina. They moved the store there yesterday which is at the end of the pier on the left. There is probably a half billion dollars worth of boats all packed in there at the moment.
I live up against one of the hills in town. I only worry about leaks and water rushing down the hills.
I mostly worry about the folks who live near the CSL airport that have only pallets and tar paper for homes. These are the folks really impacted by this sort of thing. The rest of us live in cement and block homes.
Looks like the real deal is coming in the next couple of hours with another storm coming in from the Pacific tomorrow.

Stay safe dude. Odile looks like it's no joke. I've been in cabo during a major storm, I thought I was going to die, and that was nothing compared to what's coming your way.

Wow Rob, it sounds bad, real bad.

I hope you and yours are all ok.

"Hurricane Odile, the most powerful ever to strike the Baja California peninsula of Mexico, rammed into the luxury resorts of Cabo San Lucas on Monday — smashing windows, flooding roads and causing parts of hotels to collapse.

Tourists and local residents emerged from both shelters and once-gleaming buildings to assess the damage after the storm roared through as a Category 3 packing 125-mph wind.

Cabo "is totally without drinking water and power," the Civil Defense Office reported early Monday afternoon, adding that communications were crippled by downed power poles and trees."

Doc S! You ok?

I've seen Dr S's place on BARF; at the very least, his rooftop covered patio has to be completely and utterly gone.

But that can be replaced.

My family went through Hurricane Andrew in Miami and it was as frightening an experience as you might imagine it to be.

Building standards are better in Miami.

Can't imagine going through that in Mexico. :|

Yikes it looks like a major wipeout in Cabo for everyone and everything.

I hope you and your friends are ok Rob.

Please post updates/pics when you can.

shitopia is destroyed :cry

his Facebook indicates he sustained some damage to the house and his truck and power will likely remain out for at least 1 week.

Define ok?
I am healthy and so are my dogs. For some reason I bought a bag of high quality kibble last week instead of making 100 pounds of raw. Which would now be rotting. I gave my FB update when I awoke Monday without having stepped out the door.
Trust me but whatever you are hearing it is under reported.
This place is destroyed.
Now the smile have been replaced by suspicious stares.
Armed gangs are creating havoc I and all the different blocks have fires burning in the streets to prevent these gangs from entering their neighborhoods. I just stood first watch in my area and we have built barricades and fires, organized watches and I armed everyone from my tool kit.
There won't be power for weeks. Cell phone service just came back on so I report to you now via personal hotspot. I have plenty of water but having makes you a target of the have nots.
Just ate the last of my fresh food with fellow watch standers so now it is cans and protein powder.
I will not be coming back here until I have power and internet but will upload pics at that time. Money is useless and there is no place to buy food anyway.
Thanks for all your thoughts. Let's just hope Polo turns due West.
To summarize, this place is totally fucked.
