Well FUCK U-Turners !!!

Recedite, plebes!
I got tagged by a F-ing Tesla, U turner on a residential street this morning in Livermore. She was parked next to curb and just flipped around (no turn signal or brake lights on) and hit me on the right side as I was braking / turning hard left to avoid her. She just kept coming and if she had been looking in her mirror or over her left shoulder things would have been different!!!

I always go slow on this street as there's always little kids playing in the street and I always stay out and away from the parked cars. At impact I was probably less than 5mph. Had just enough time to lift my right leg before impact. Crash was only about 8 house away from my Daughter's house.

Bike did a 180 and landed on the right side and right foot under bike. Two gardeners working in a yard came over and lifted bike off me. I got a little road rash on top of right shoulder and about a 4" square rash on right leg.

Bike goes to BMW tomorrow. Sadly, I think it's going to be totaled. :-(
Bike was in pristine condition with only 24K on it and only about 200 miles on new tires.

Called Livermore PD and a Moto Officer was there within 5-6 minutes. :thumbup

Soooooo, wear your god-damned gear!!! Be Safe Out There!

Rolls with it...
Glad you're (relatively) ok!

Let's see, that's a $25K bike, $1100 jacket, $700 boots, $400 jeans, and in the saddlebag was the Ming Vaaaaaz you were taking to the appraiser, right?

Thanks Johndicezx9

Icing the shoulder... neck and shoulder a little stiff and a little sting on the leg rash. Jacket has soft armor in shoulders, elbows, and back. Hit on shoulder pad but jacket rolled down and burnt through just off the pad. Pants have pads on hips and knees. The hole in pants is just below the pad and little smaller than a fifty cent piece (ha, ha... remember those?), but leg still got rashed up.

Oh, don't forget the Shoei helmet.

Glad you had no major damage, Sorry the bike did. Heal up and start thinking about what you want to replace your BMW with.

Sorry to hear about the unscheduled dismount. Damned inobservant cagers will be end of all of us. Heal up quick, hope the bike can be repaired.

Totally sucks.

And it’s a damn shame that our plastics are ridiculously expensive to replace. Makes totaling perfectly operational motos too easy.

That sucks, I'd be furious! Glad you came out of it with nothing more than some soreness.

I could swear residential streets are the most dangerous place to be on a motorcycle, I've had too many near misses back when I lived in the city. People enter a residential street and promptly turn their brains off and act like there couldn't possibly be anyone else on the road.

Too much lean angle...
With the increased lawlessness of the SiP in I am constantly honking, flashing my high beams, and SMIDSY-weaving. I look like a Monty Python skit going down the street and still have cars slam on their brakes once they notice me mid u-turn.

Glad it wasn't worse. Make sure you take care of yourself the next couple of days. Don't be stubborn, go see someone if you start hurting more.

Hope the appraisal works out for all necessary items.

Yep, this sucks big time!
Another sad day, seeing the bike being hauled off to the dealer. :(
This is the pretty side.

That's a problem with bikes - they depreciate so fast, it's easy for something like this to "total" them on cosmetics (there could well be more than cosmetics done to this).

But in the end, while the bike "may not be worth fixing", fixing it may well be cheaper than getting a new one.

Kind of that "why are you putting $2,000 in to that worthless old truck?" "So I don't have to put $40,000 in to a worthless new truck!"
