Live Long
Short version:
Last night after riding for an hour in extreme cold in the mountains I got some Chinese food and when I tried to use chop sticks I got a stabbing pain in the center back of my hand like I’ve never felt before. This morning I can still feel a bit of that pain, and I’m noticing that both hands are swollen on the backs. Any thoughts about what this could be?
Long version - freak winter storm
Was moto camping this weekend up in Mendo National Forest. Buddies who organized it didn’t see anything in the weather forecast about the freak winter storm that blasted through our camp at 6000’ Saturday night, dropping temps into the 20s and covering everything in a coating of ice.
We decided to ride out yesterday morning in thick fog with temps in the high 20s, then around 30-32 for the first hour or so of riding on dirt forest roads before we started to descend to warm up.
My hands were so cold I couldn’t do up my helmet strap. When we stopped to regroup I put my hands on the cylinders to warm my fingers - heated grips on high and winter riding gloves were no match for the cold.
Thanks for any thoughts.
