Wearing your motorcycle gear in the office

I should mind my own business, but I've noticed this spring several coworkers walking around in their jackets and boots all day.

I think about my gear: stiff boots, waterproof jackets with armor inserts, and kevlar armored pants. I take it all off when I get into the office, and I usually leave it all in the bicycle room (I'm the only person here who rides bicycles and motorcycles).

I realize that much of their stuff is barely suitable for riding, light leather jackets, non riding boots and jeans. However, no one has asked my opinion on what they wear.

Mostly, I'm not jealous but I'm reminded how uncomfortable I find moto wear outside of riding.

My commuting/touring boots are comfortable enough to walk around all day in. I do keep a pair of regular shoes at my desk to wear during the day, but occasionally I end up in another building or something, and have no issue wearing them all day. I've even done some light hiking in them.

Same with jacket - if it's cool enough for a jacket, my moto one is certainly comfortable enough (if a bit dingy for office duty). It's probably the best broken-in piece of clothing I own!

Shouldn't your moto gear be comfortable enough to wear all day (assuming it's temperature-appropriate)? Otherwise, how are you going to ride all day? :laughing:ride

I wear a 'Stich for this exact reason! Zip zip zip, jump right out, hang on coat rack, ready to look professional-ish!

I have noticed, at previous places of employment, just exactly what you posted above. Come warm weather, the other motos start appearing in the parking lot, and a few coworkers parade around the office in their Bilt boots all day. Looks silly to me, but they don't ask so I keep my opinions to myself!

I wear my daytona boots every day for all activities, including even just walking my dogs around the block or taking them to the beach.

in the office I unzip my jacket from my pants, put a sweatshirt on, and walk around in that and daytona boots + revit pants.

it's comfy.

I like to look fast on and off the bike and the chicks dig it:rofl

Only kidding, I change when I get to work and leave the moto gear for the ride. A bunch of people I work with ride as well and I don't see them wearing their gear at work.

1,000x this. I regularly wear dresses for work (shout-out to Zuri dresses!) under my Stich and can zip off my gear, slip on a pair of flats, and be ready for board meetings in under a minute.

Knee/shin armor bugs my knees after a couple of hours. Otherwise, I could wear my gear all day.

I keep a pair of work shoes under my desk. My boots swap out with them in the morning, back again in the evening.

I don't wear my moto gear in the office, and I don't wear my lab coat outside of the lab.

It's just not acceptable for where I work/what I do to be in my "squeaky pants" all day. When I've commuted in by bike, I've always changed. Even if I weren't required to, no way I'd want to wear that stuff off the bike!

I wear my commuter boots all day, but they're comfy and stylish :dunno

I commute in jeans with textile overpants, so I strip off the pants at work and wear these with jeans. Nobody (other than other riders perhaps) would look twice at brown leather boots/shoes.

Naw.... if they think they are cool wearing their riding clothes then that's on them...
Personally,i take if off when i get in, and put it back on before i leave.
Everyone knows i ride... i don't have to make any fashion statements.

I do, and I work at a public school. I know I should wear ATGATT, but I often commute in jeans. Gone to work many times in textile pants. And in the winter I wear my leather moto jacket all day, cuz I'm cold, but not my gloves. I don't carry my helmet around campus though.

Mind you, I haven't worn my speed jump jacket to work, but no one seems to care much. I do have an aerostich, which I could just zip off and jump out of, but I have yet to wear it to work.

Interesting to me, my students are fascinated with my moto gear. I work with small groups and motivate them by having them work for small prizes, some work to earn a chance to try on my helmet, or moto jacket. And yes, I do talk about WHY I need to wear the armor.

Now if I would my 1 piece leather suit to work, um, I'd say that's a bit much.

I don't buy stuff unless its comfortable. Well I have bought uncomfortable stuff but then I usually don't wear it. The stuff I do wear is generally comfortable on and off the bike.
However I don't ride to work so don't get a chance to look cool wearing my gear at work. I suppose I could always wear my gear during the drive there :cool

I keep a pair of shoes in my desk drawer and play Mr. Rogers with my riding boots every morning and evening. I've worn my Alpinestars Roam Touring Boots for a 24 hour riding event so I know I can wear them longer, but I find they're a bit warm and squeaky around the workplace.

I wear gear that fits and is functional, but at 6'8" I have limited choice.
I often keep my jacket liner on, when it is cold, and I have often been told that "your jacket is inside out!"
I keep a pair of shoes under my desk, and change pants, as soon as I get to work.
I ride 80/BB year round, so I don't skimp on protection, but I will wear my motorcycle jacket out for dinner, and have had many conversations started from my jacket or Kriega man-purse.
I'm not above flaunting that I ride.
