Valve cover breather hose improvement?

I am away on a road trip and cant get my hands on the bike at the moment, so I am sitting and theorizing. I know, a terrible idea.

I have an 03 WR450. I replaced the head last year due to a failed cam journal. The top end rebuild went well and the bike has been performing like a champ.

My current issue is oil accumulating in the air box. Especially after wheelies and such. The bike demands wheelies, its not my fault.

I am thinking of modifying the hose to have a condenser vertically from the cover. Imagine a cork screw that would slow the flow of oil and allow it to drop back into the head but will still allow air flow. It wouldn't completely stop oil, just reduce the speed. Thoughts?

you could try something like that but if wheelies are the primary cause, the flow might easily get past a simple convolution in the path.

i have a similar issue on my landcruiser, i know not a bike. but, they're well known among addicts for blowing oil out the PCV and into the intake then fouling up the EGR system. i digress, anyway one of the fixes, other then deleting the EGR system but retaining the pcv (kinda can't delete that) is to install an oil separator in the PCV hose path before it gets to the EGR system.

something like this

you have to manually empty it from time to time which is annoying. it's tempting to just have it drain back into the oil pan but the crank case pressure would likely ruin that plan. probably hard to fit into the confines of a WR

a catch can is probably simpler and just as effective. you can route the breather hose to go into the catch can, then have the catch can vent to a hose that goes to the airbox.

i said the same thing twice really

I like it. Solid solution to a simple problem. I keep up on oil changes. Going to skip the stress on this one! Will post the end result.
