US vs. the World - Do we really suck that bad at this?

This is probably a controversial thread: Is it just me or is our talent pool that weak compared to the Europeans and Japanese?

I was just watching recent vids of trialcross to decompress after a day of struggling with bike control and balance. Compare the Everett (WA) event with the Sheffield (UK) event... is the difference that blatant?

Not to mention Taddy, Knighter, or Jarvis when they are on our turf. BTW -Congratulations to Cody Webb on 2013 King of the Motos.

To add fuel to the fire: The F.I.M. World Trial Championship was held last week in Tennesee. We hoped Cody Webb, Patrick Smage, or Geoff Aaron would make the list, but there wasn't a single American that placed in the top 10; not even in the Junior or Youth series. The only Americans in the event: Cody Webb and Raymond Peters made up a field of 2 competitors in the Open International class. None of the non-Americans participated in the Open International class: http://trialonline.org/02 RESULTATS 2013/2013 03 USA 01/08 102 OPEN USA 2013 01 TRIAL.pdf

1979 FIM Trial World Champion Bernie Schreiber said:
“It’ a real pleasure for me to be back today, it is just a shame that there has not been another American champion since me, and that’s something we need to address. The American riders need a GP in their country as often as possible and to be exposed to the top riders, and what is happening in Europe so they can understand what level they need to be at.”

“I was lucky enough to see Sammy Miller and Mick Andrews ride in America when I started out, and I knew those guys were good, but I wanted to be better than them. Seeing them gave me the dream and the confidence, and the drive to go on to be best in the World.”

Unfortunately there was tremendous criticism on how lenient the US observers were at the USA round. and how the course wasn't as challenging as the Japanese or European rounds. Here's are a few of the threads:

2013 Ranking: http://www.kingsofextremeenduro.com/koee-2013-ranking/ show Cody Webb as the only American rider to make the list.

Anyone notice Laia Sanz dominate the X-Games despite competing in the World Enduro round in Portugal that same weekend?

Mother of God.
What he said. ^^^ Americans like the flashy jumps and so forth of SX. That's where the talent goes.
