Ultimate PB&J thread

a little gimpy
I know I should be eating (natural) peanut butter without hydrogenated oils, but I'm soooooo partial to Skippy SuperChunk.

I usually put the PB on 1 slice, spread jam or preserves on top of the Skippy SC, then slap the other piece of bread on top (1 layer of PB and 1 layer of jam)

even when I make the "taco-style" or 1/2 PB&J sandwich, (having a fold on the bottom lets you load it up with spillage only on the ends) - i used to only spread it on 1 side, then fold it over (1 layer PB and 1 layer jam)

But I just discovered this - for a 1/2 sandwich, spread the PB over the whole slice and jam on one side, then fold. 2 layers PB and 1 layer jam :wow

took me 30 years to figure that out!

post up your favorite bread, PB, jam, techniques (like grilled or for you fancy types, panini-pressed) and pics

Of the commercial brands, Jif has always been rated higher than Skippy. I have been using their natural Peanut Butter Spread chunky style. You don't want that hydrogenated oil surfin down yer colon.

I find locally-sourced honey on a super-healthy mutli-grainy-seedy bread, toasted, to be about what I need in combo..

I thought thought this was going to be about the Portland School "PB&J is Racist" thing.

Very dissappointed.

Skippy??

That's fake shit. Gotta be natural with no partially hydrogenated oils, body cant process that stuff.

I've been making a natural peanut butter and icelandic yogurt sandwhich in the morning, soooo good! the yogurt is vanilla flavor and similar to greek yogurt.

I eat this for breakfast every day. Lately I've been alternating between that and PB / Nutella sandwiches.

I use Orowheat oatnut bread for that extra nuttiness. Cuz I luve to nut'.

if im really feeling hungry... bread - PB - J - bread - PB - J - bread

if im in the mood for something a little diff... bread - PB - banana slices - honey - bread

JIF Natural isn't bad - they use palm oil instead of hydrogenated oil

BUT I don't think it's sustainable palm oil so there is that problem too

I've eaten lots of peanut butter, natural only, Ive eaten plenty of jam. Mixing the two makes as much sense to me as ice cream on scrambled eggs.

Listen newbs, anyone who eats Skippy or Jiff and claims to be eating PB&J probably thinks their RealDoll is as good as Sasha Grey.
Also, don't even talk about creamy, save your Creamygoodness for some other place.
PEANUTbutter is about PEANUTS

The easy to access daily sacrament:
Trader Joes chunky unsalted PB or the chunky organic shit from Rainbow
Trader Joes Strawberry or Raspberry Preserves
Whole grain sprouted bread, lightly toasted and buttered

Welches concord grape jelly, skippy and wonderbread is the anti-PB&J

White Rainbow bread, Creamy Skippy on one slice, Apricot/Pineapple preserves on the other, almost done.
Eat the crust off and what is left is almost like dessert, texture is nice and soft like a delicious pillow of goodness.

You have to try Daves Killer Bread! Da Best! Great backstory, too.
There is 5 types. I like them all. I buy a different flavor every week.

For PB I now like the Smart Balance. Great flavor & has Omega 3's. No reefer required, so it spreads easy like a you know what.
