101 is a highway, so 125mph, while very illegal, would be pretty easy.

At least they weren't doing something really dumb, like a new rider going 120mph on the Kancamagus, in the rain, on a 30 year old Suzuki gs1150. Nope, nope, that would be real stupid. I would never do something as dumb as that.

You must admit the Skaggs speed limit is somewhat extreme. IMO It was posted as a response to the extreme squidliness that was occurring, not because it makes any sense.
I think many people think the limit there is such BS and an example of Big Gummint overreach so they routinely break ignore it. Some get ticketed, others don't.

The last time I got written up the officer said he had me on the gun at 90MPH and that he knows it's fun to "open her up like that".

I kept quiet but 90mph ≠ opening it up.

Well, it's not double the limit, and 125 on a modern liter bike is not hard to do, nor does it feel that fast if you're kinda used to being on one and there's not a ton of traffic. On a 600 You're very much aware of the fact that you're making it work, but the bikes are more than capable.

Says they were weaving in and out of traffic, so I'm sure they knew what they were doing - but meh?
