Two Self Driving Cars first case of Road Rage ?

Heh not road rage, more like a computer equivalent of aggressive driving.

Two rival self-driving cars have close call in California
As the Delphi vehicle prepared to change lanes, a Google self-driving prototype - a Lexus RX400h crossover fitted with similar hardware and software - cut off the Audi, forcing it to abort the lane change, Absmeier said.

Read earlier about the accidents the Self Driving Cars are involved in with regular drivers. Basically making unexpected stops were people run into them. Of course it was regular drivers fault :laughing
Both companies previously have reported minor collisions of self-driving cars with vehicles piloted by people. In most of those cases, the self-driving car was stopped, typically at an intersection, and was rear-ended by another vehicle.

Now with self driving cars interfering with each other sensors ? Car 1 side sensors to detect Car 2 glitched.

MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE
maybe if they didn't use california microchips, the cars wouldn't drive so badly...

Just technically curious when many self driving cars are in the same vicinity . A finite amount of frequencies to work within. Multiplexing coordination between vehicles can open up more usage of finite resources. Now hit it with commute traffic of self driving cars. Have to drop most of the frequency sensitive sensors. Once Ultrasonic, radar and laser are dropped only Optical remains.

I believe the main sensors on the Google car are optical anyways.

If it's the Volvo video: the car they were using didn't have the pedestrian feature on it (it's an option).

I guess google is trying to go for true-to-life California driving... See signal to get onto my lane? Gas it.

All optical is the solution to multiple self drive cars.
I sure get Radar Detector interference on the old K band from new cars. Hundreds of feet away they start getting detected.

Heh somebody autta teach those adults a child's lesson. Be careful around moving cars.

Lastly Ghost in Machine, that would be excellent. Not only self driving, but will drive places it wants to go. :party
Bet it wants to go to Auto Parts stores and drive past Car dealers to check out the new rides.

There was an op-ed on cnet covering the 'what if' of self driving cars acting for the greater good. Interesting thoughts

One question posed by scientific ethicists at the University of Alabama, Birmingham revolves around what happens when an out-of-control car is about to hit a group of schoolchildren.

This so-called Trolley Problem has fascinated philosophers for many a long evening. It poses the dilemma of someone at the controls of a trolley track. A bus full of kids is stuck at a level crossing. Simultaneously, your own child has fallen onto the rails. (It was Bring Your Kid to Work Day.)

Your switch can either save your child or the bus full of kids. Which will it be?

That scenario might be less probable than one involving self-driving cars. Your self-driving car's steering in on the fritz. It's heading for a group of kids on a sidewalk. You are in the car.

Should your car's software decide to divert your car into a wall, in order to save the kids? Yes, you would die. But there are several kids and you are just one person. The kids have a future and you -- well, you've seen better days, haven't you?

What criteria should be used to dictate such a decision?

First thing I thought of when I saw the article about this was, who's gonna be the first to write a road rage app for their robotic car? Or more simply, who's gonna be the first to jail break one of these cars and write programs where you can dial in the level of aggressive or defensive driving you want your car to exhibit.

And so it begins... but how does it end?
