Back again with some weird maintenance stuff for my 2012 Ninja 1000

I've been noticing a buzzing noise coming from somewhere above my engine and under my gas tank for a week or so. It's kind-of done this for longer but usually stops immediately. Well, sometimes it doesn't stop now and just keeps doing this on and off for as long as it sits with the power on. It usually will stop after a WHILE but sometimes just keeps twitching like this. I've no idea if it does this with the engine started as well or if it is just when the power is on and resting.

I haven't really noticed any issues with how the bike rides currently, but this is weird enough to make me wonder if it is a symptom of something about to fail. I didn't have the time today to take off the fairings so I could detach the air box completely from the throttle body to inspect further, but I am figuring somebody here might be able to point me in the right direction.

Seriously, this is weird. Only other issue I know I am having right now is that I think my air temperature sensor is going bad. Lil help? I'm stumped.

Reminds me of when my RC car servos would glitch out. It turned out to be the potentiometer in the servos giving a bad reading to the circuit so it didn't really know where it was. In this case that would indicate a bad TPS. Does this bike have two sets of throttle butterflies?

Not sure on that, actually. I think only the 1 set? I'll know more when I get a chance to take off the fairings and pull my air box out of the way.

I've had some issues with electrical contacts in other parts of my bike getting corroded and glitchy, maybe the connector from the tps is just in need of a cleaning? I don't keep a cover on my bike and we got a hell of a lot of rain this year so that seems a possibility.

I'm leaning that way right now as after a good ride, the damned thing stopped glitching out on me again so it's a problem that comes and goes. If nothing else, breaking my bike down and cleaning all of my connectors should probably be on my maintenance to-do list anyway. Worst case I guess I just did some necessary periodic maintenance and have to buy a new TPS.

Any other insights/things I might want to look into?

Remember having the exact same problem on my 2014 Z1000. As revs go up, the buzzing gets stronger to a point its annoying. Ended up putting some foam under the tank fairing. It solved the problem for good. Not sure if your problem is because of the same reason. Worth trying...

Try cleaning or replacing your Secondary Throttle Valve Actuator. There should be 2 plugs on the side of the throttle body, 1 for the primary, and this one for the secondary. I suspect either the sensor is bad or it's getting some random signals from the ECU.

Make sure the butterfly valves and linkages are not binding or blocked from full range by something like a wire or vacuum hose.

The secondary throttle plates on my V-Strom do a little "homing" procedure when the ignition is first turned on. In prep for start they open 100% then close 100% then open to ~20% and stop. Once upon a time I pulled my air box and when I put it back together a vacuum hose was blocking the linkage and they chattered like that till I cleared the path for the linkage.

This all started after compressing my front forks a lot in order to test a fork leak. Maybe during one of my compressions something fell in and blocked it.

So checking for blockages and vleaning electricsl contacts are now on my docket. Here's hoping one of these solves it.
