TV Streaming Services

I've been looking at getting a TV streaming service lately, what I want:

  1. Live TV
  2. DVR

There are a bunch of available options now, like Sling, YouTube TV and DirevtTV Now. Which one do you have?

There's PlayStation Vue, but right now, it doesn't have a DVR Service. Anything else missing that I should consider?

Using those two seems a bit redundant to my uniformed self. Can you give some pros and cons of both and why you need both?

They do have a lot of shows in common, but they have their own original show offerings. Netflix Originals have been a good source of entertainment lately. I've got both, but mostly use Netflix. Amazon comes with my Prime membership which I use mostly for the fast shipping.

Neither one will allow you to watch live TV broadcasts. They will allow live broadcasts on very rare occasions.

My friend has a jail-broken firestick and an old PC set up for media. With a VPN, he gets just about everything you can think of for free.

Amazon sucks for vids, but is great for music. Netflix has waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay more recently released movies and their Originals destroy Amazon. It's not even a contest.

This is what all the cool kids are doing. It takes about 1 month to a month and a half to get a Fire Stick, very popular right now. But there's this:

And the Fire Stick usually show up in a couple of weeks.

stay away from DirectvNOW. I signed up on launch day and it was unusable for many reasons and I canceled within a week. They are still working out bugs.

Google Youtube TV is promising.

I think what he was saying was that Fire Sticks are always back ordered. I'm constantly buying them and they're always out of stock on Amazon, Best Buy, Staples, etc. And they limit you to 2-3 per order.

FWIW, discussions about illegal streaming are frowned upon on Barf, so tread lightly.

There's a bit of overlap but they each have their own original content. One will usually have something that the other doesn't. Plus I like the ability to rent from Amazon's library. There's a ton more content in that regard.

Incorrect on the last part. PSVue does have a DVR. It's both regular and cloud based DVR. PSVue is the best option for TV streaming IMO.

I got mine for 'free' from ordering DirectvNOW. $39 for service plus a free firetv stick. I went to an AT&T store to sign up for directvnow to get the firetv stick right away, otherwise if you order online you have to wait a week or so to get the firetv stick. The directvnow service starts when you place the order. yeah, i know.
