Trump to revoke Carb's authority.... what affect will it have on dirt bikes?

Darwin's exception
Not a political discussion about Trump and politics pro or con. But if his administration is successful in revoking Carb's authority, might there be some hope in overturning the OHV rules set to come into effect 2021 eliminating both two strokes and competition four strokes from public land?

As reported in today's NY Times "Trump to Revoke California’s Authority to Set Stricter Auto Emissions Rules".

Perhaps there is hope from an unexpected source. :thumbup

If successful, I assume it will be challenged. Regardless, is there anything the industry and community can do to challenge Carb's OHV rules?

I would LOVE to see CARB disbanded.
It started out as a 2 year temporary agency that voted/chartered themselves into permanence.
Then grew like a plague sticking it's tendrils into everyone's business and choking them for cash. Or shutting them down.
Then it crossed the CA borders with it's "influence".

BUT...
Even if CARB gets shut down emissions controls are coming from other places. Specifically the EU standards.
The manufacturers will build to the emission rules most common around the world.

I also doubt any CARB endings would effect the 2020-22
models. They're on the design or production tables.

Much the same way that unions started out with good intentions but got taken over by greedy assholes who have caused them to go off the deep end, CARB needs to be reined in. I'm supportive of their essential ideals, because trying to say emissions aren't better now than they were in the 70s and 80s would be like you were living under a rock during the same time period.

EURO standards are different than CARB standards or even the EPA standards really. They're more concerned with CO2 than particulate matter and NOx. Ultimately though, CARB may get pushed back a bit, but they're not going away. When you have thousands upon thousands more registered vehicles operating on your states roadways than the next closest state, what did you think would happen in terms of emissions. People can't realistically act like change wasn't needed. It's not like the OEM's were going to improve on their own.

I'm fine with CARB.
I like having cleaner emission vehicles.
You don't need a loud, stinky, polluting bike to have fun anymore, thanks to the technology that has evolved due to stricter emissions laws across world.

My true feelings beyond that are stated in a similar topic thread in the poli sink, as this is a purely political move on trumps part.

I hate CARB because their stupid rules have made getting gas out of a gas can more difficult than it should be with stupid new designs that get worse year after year. Let's go back to a simple friction cap on the spout and closable vent hole in the back so it doesn't take me forever to put gas in my damn lawnmower.

That's an engineering/product design shortcoming.

Worst gas cans ever. Have tried to find a good one that will work in my 99 ram and the newer 2016 ram, that has a shitty angle on the tankfiller, hard enough getting the gas pump in and out without almost ripping the damn thing out. Also leaves the last 1/4 of gas in the gas can due to handle/truck body interference. Bring back old gas cans!

Thank you Mr. President since I can't afford to replace all my cars, trucks and motorcycles with electric ones.

In CARB'S eyes, 99% of the dirt bikes shouldn't be allowed to operate in the state, even the newest ones.
