Triumph, take my money, please!!(new Scrambler 1200)

Junkie

gone for now
9.8" of travel out of a twin shock design with the shocks mounted essentially at the axle is seriously impressive

they really did their homework. 1st. in class to have 21 in. front wheel, links up with a gopro so you can control it with the switch gear/toggle on the bars, tubeless wheels it appears from the pics. the only thing keeping this from succeeding is the price point when they make that known.....

I want the XE model!!!!

With cruise control and heated grips!!

I expect the italians to respond with the desert sled 1100!

Really?
DON'T YOU DARE TOUCH IT!! IT'S MINE!!!!

I just love it. It's gorgeous and a serious contender to Ducati's Scrambler Desert Sled.

Lots of money for twin shocked antiquated suspension? Why?!

We do not live in the 70's no more! Make it stop!!

Its like they combine the scrambler with the tiger. Scrambled Tiger! Would be nice of they made the Street Scrambler like this. While I love the 1200 power I think the 900 would be fine and less costly.

What's all the hoopla about. Looks like a retro 500+ pound dirt bike.

Yeah, I don't get the appeal.
Hey! I ride a 500 pound dirt bike and quite enjoy it. :twofinger

This Triumph is looking quite desirable to me. The Off-Road Pro setting on traction control is a plus. My KTM has an off road setting that I can switch to on the fly and makes a big difference. The best part is when I get back to pavement and can put it back in Sport mode though.

Places I've taken it in the dirt during the past month (for the curious):

Y'all are really missing the point on the twin shock.

Triumph dominates in the hipsteriffic retro segment.

You could ask the same questions about the Thruxton R, which seems like it's trying to compete in the hypernaked category (on price at any rate) but they offer it alongside the speed triple which actually competes in the segment specs-wise.

If someone wanted to truly 'scramble' as effectively as possible and was limited to the Triumph offerings, of course they'd get a Tiger. That same customer would get a speed triple for their hypernaked needs.

If the scales tipped in favor of form over function (as they do for many, many triumph customers), they would get this new scrambler and a thruxton r.

they know exactly what they're doing, they know the U.S. market is about bigger/faster mentality, 1200 is the way to go. from one DR owner to another, would you buy one when it hits the used market? not necessary replace the DR,but add to the stable.....

The Triumph scrambler community has been waiting for Triumph to make a lightweight, better suspended bike that would compete with the dirty triples.
What we are getting is another 1200 RSD hooligan bike, too heavy for single track. Built to compete with the Indian FTR 1200, and the like.

I'm keeping mine.
