Transponder needed for Isle Of Mann

I own a AMB260.

I have shipped two bikes to Isle Of Man to Race in the ManxGP in august.

One is an "A" bike and one is a "B" bike.
The rules say they need separate transponders-no swapping if both are to be deemed eligible if the need arises to use one or the other.

I will be home September 2nd-in time for the Sonoma round.
Would someone be kind enough to loan me a transponder for the week I am on Isle.

Hopefully you're going to be on the Isle of Man for 2 weeks (not one), since signing-on is Friday August 21st, then starting on Saturday 22nd week 1 is practice and qualifying and week 2 is racing. You're likely racing Newcomers (A, B or C) as well as another class.

As a Newcomer you'll have to practice all week starting August 22nd to have a hope of laying down (a) enough laps to qualify and (b) a fast enough time to qualify. You can safely assume that despite qualifying being scheduled all week in Practice week, based on averages since I've been there, likely 2 sessions will be canceled due to weather.

If the 2 bikes you're bringing are JUST your A and B bike (or in Isle of Man terms, your machine and your T-bike), I'll likely let you slide by on one transponder if necessary since the two bikes will be numbered and colored identically (i.e. red plates for Newcomers then your class color for your other class). The one-transponder-per-bike rule is primarily for people entered into multiple classes on multiple different bikes, so that we can accurately match laptimes and qualifying to the appropriate classes, and so Race Control knows who you are if you stop or retire during a lap.

Chris.Ill be on island on the 14th...I was only awarded a spot in Newcomer C...Just 1 race..Yes.The goal is just to qualify...First step is to have 3 laps by Wednesday. ..That will determine if I'm even on track to get the 6 laps needed..Then one of those has to be 27.00 or less...My bikes will be the only supermotos there so easily identifiable. .What day do you arrive.

Now this is the guy than knows. Hopefully we can get a pint together this year :)

I'll likely arrive either August 17th or 18th. You'll see either me or one (or more) of my minions at Signing-on on the Friday, after that I'll be looking down at you from the tower ;)

Gawd, I can't imagine racing a motard on the Mountain Course. I've probably done 100 laps of the course but only 3 of those were on a motard before I got off and lapped the rest of the day in a car (we do lots of laps to test the timing loops)... I was a big friggin' sail especially over the mountain mile on a windy day.

But I was laughing with my staff at the TT about how we should make a trail next to the road across the mountain and run a 38 mile supermoto...

Will you be heading down from your "ivory tower" for a beer? We will be there on the 21st, barring no flight delays :thumbup

Chris.
My bikes will not be dropped in my pit space until the 19th.
Is their any possibility of getting in on a timing loop check on the 18th..
As I can only confirm myself,Alan, and 2 other Americans where awarded positions, it would be cool for us all to sit down and eat at some point.

Thank You Rob!
Thank You Aaron!
I really appreciate the help you guys stepped up to offer-I was nervous about finding a 2nd transponder.
It looks like I'm going to be ok with just the one I have.
This is getting really good!

As long as you show up at Transponder Check with a bike that says '73' in big white numbers on a red background I don't mind if you're on your primary machine or your T-bike ;)

And for about 2/3 of the mountain course you don't need to look where you're going... head tucked down, throttle wide open, just wondering if you've got enough gas left in the tank to make it back to the pits...

Chris - I've tested but never ran 37 miles completely full throttle...I'll have 15.1 litre on board..I'm hoping 4 gallons makes 2 laps using a single cylinder. ..No one has that information. .Just speculation at this point..I have easily ran 80 miles on 3.3 gallons..The average mph was more in the 75 mph range though

I did a full tank doing about 2.3 laps on a 660 motard going legal speeds (e.g. 50 mph along the southern part of the course, 60 mph up to Glen Helen, then 30 mph through all the towns and along the (very long) Sulby straight. Had to stop for gas at Ballaugh on the 3rd lap.

Basically you can watch the fuel level going down rapidly on all the open roads/speed unlimited sections -- Glen Helen to Kirk MIchael, Kirk Michael to Ballaugh then Ramsey Hairpin through to Hillberry (that last one is a long way at full throttle -- Alan, about 8 miles?).

I constantly think about my old 450 single GP bike and just how much gas would be going down that huge carburetor at full throttle, how just how very, very much you're at full throttle ;)
