I agree with Mr. Earnest with regards to using race tires at the race track. And at 2:13s using DOTs is the way to go. But crashing at 2:30s, I wouldn't say its the tires fault. :)

Same thing happend to me on turn 3. My mistake was old street tires, and wrong tire size in the rear. Put on some race dot's and was running threw 3 with no problems.

I believe my mistakes were using crappy US made Dunlop 209's (UK made 209 dot's have never given way under the same circumstances and even higher speeds), not enough laps to put heat into the right side of the tire (it was session 2, lap 2 and the 2nd day on those tires and I forgot to bring the tire warmers), and going into 3 a bit too wide. It seems that line through 3 bites a lot of riders.

Anyhow, my best was a 2:02 the day prior to the crash. Too quick to be riding the US made 209's, Lance Keigwin and others said.

You want trackday videos? I have a ton of them. Should they go here or Moto Photos or cross-post?

Following are links to onboard video recorded during the Sierra Sportbike Association trackday at Reno-Fernley Raceway (configuration C) September 26 and 27, 2009. The Axial Video camera is mounted in the left ram air nostril of the 2006 Suzuki GSX-R600 camera bike ridden by yours truly.

Use the HQ button on the YouTube controls to view in high quality.

(Music soundtrack version.) Onboard highlights from September 26 and 27 2009 A group sessions and the final B session. Featuring BARFer DirtyD and world champion Doug Polen.

Final B group session, joining the pack well behind. Working through the pack the riders are Andre (blue R6, helmet cam), Sid (R6, yellow helmet), Alberto (white Ducati), Rick (black/white R6), and Peter (maroon R6). Two-up instructor Justin is encountered on the Sunset straight upon eyeing the black flag, which ends the session due to a crash and oil spill in the bowl.

Much of an A group session getting help from head instructor Justin (AFM # 190) aboard his GSX-R1000 superbike. He shows defensive (blocking) corner entries, a less bumpy entrance to T2, has me exit T2 wider, and shows how to keep the bike on the meat of the tire driving on to the front straight.

A couple laps from an A group session stuck behind an R6 rider. Pass on the front straight goes bad at 140 mph (?) when he turns in early for turn one.

Much of a Sunday morning A group session following Peter's 2007 Yamaha R6.

One clean lap with no other bikes for a modest 2:49 lap time.

Passing highlights from Sunday's 9:30 AM session of the A group. (All of these passes are the longer combined 26 & 27 highlight video.)

Portion of a Saturday afternoon A session with passes by WSBK champ Doug Polen, among others. A missed shift and inability to find the right gear going up the Hoot 'n Hollar end the rider's chances of hanging on to the coat tails of the passers. (All of these passes are the longer combined 26 & 27 highlight video.)

Can we please go back to posting track videos, rather than everyone trying to argue about street tires and race tires. It doesn't matter anymore. Post up your videos!

welcome to barf... all threads degrade to off topic hoobajooba. :rofl

2stroke, nice vids. :thumbup

2stroke was getting around pretty well in the session with Justin. Gotta drive you crazy to see him not hanging off at all and still ripping. Damn these "next levels" anyway.

Justin was going pretty slow showing me around, doing the Macarena and what not. Then when I took over the lead to show him I learned his defensive lines, it felt pretty slow.

BTW, his 190 HP superbike is for sale. Perfect AFM novice machine; you know you want it.

Would you guys please put your cameras up high or out front or on your helmet? Viewing real estate is precious and you're obscuring half of it with your tank, fairing stay, instruments, forks, triple clamp, etc.

Onboard at Reno-Fernley Raceway (configuration C) during the Zoom Zoom trackday A group sessions on October 10, 2009. Axial Video camera is mounted in the left ram air nostril of the 2006 Suzuki GSX-R600 camera bike ridden by yours truly.

Saturday highlights with music soundtrack (Vimeo) 8:47

When I went to iTunes to see if there was a song that might fit, I got lucky with something different. It really changes the whole video. Best viewed from a bubble bath with candles. There is still some badass motorcycle action so you won't get your man card revoked.

Saturday highlights no music (YouTube) 8:47

Above video without music soundtrack and full-level original audio (Yoshimura race baffle).

Liter Bike Frustration part 1 9:04

Unedited first half of the 11:00 AM session, following the CBR1000RR rider featured in the highlight video.

Liter Bike Frustration part 2 8:38

Unedited second half of the 11:00 AM session, following the CBR1000RR rider featured in the highlight video.

Stay tuned for highlights from Sunday, where A and B groups were combined into half-hour sessions. Closing speeds were high, the track was crowded, and there were shenanigans. This video will not include a bubble bath music soundtrack.

Last trackday of the year

Onboard at Reno-Fernley Raceway (configuration C) during the Zoom Zoom trackday on October 11, 2009. Due to the combined A/B group there is much passing and dodging on the crowded track. Axial Video camera is mounted in the left ram air nostril of the 2006 Suzuki GSX-R600 camera bike ridden by yours truly.

For each video, start it to begin loading it then pause it and let it fully load. Play it after it has fully loaded. For the Vimeo videos you had better not have any other network transfers going or anything using your CPU. For YouTube, use the HQ option.

Spliced footage of A and B group sessions during PTT's season-ending date yesterday at Thill:
Great footage.

I see windmills inside the track from Start/Finish. Didn't see them there in August.
