Track day tires

This question applies to both track days and race days.

How much can I expect to pay on tires at a track day or race? Can you usually buy both slicks and treaded tires?

My tire sizes are 120/70/17 and 180/55/17

Is it better to buy tires before heading to the track?

i heard slicks go for about 400 a set.
