Totally NOT Looking To Get My Bike Dyno'd

HOLY BAD TITLE BATMAN.... It should read "Totally NOT Looking To Get My Bike Dyno'd"

Does anyone recommend a place to totally not get your bike dyno tuned in the bay? I would never think of potentially adjusting the power vision map. It's a 2017 Harley Low Rider S.

It has definitely not been tuned once before. Because who would ever do such a horrible thing in this state.

CARB IS WATCHING US :shhh

That or any other recommendations on how to best get it back to stock exhaust. I posted in the Garage without any luck - at least.. last I checked. Harley - being super helpful, won't even put a stock map back on it even if I bring it in all stock.

Basically I have 2-1 Thunderheaders - they are stupid loud and I value my hearing. So want to go back to stock.

Berkeley Performance Motorcycle did a good job for me, not sure if they do Harleys.

No matter what exhaust you have, you should wear earplugs. I wonder if you could put a dB killer in your thunderheader.

Thunderheaders are actually exhaust amplifiers (kidding).

They are actually well tuned pipes that kick ass in mid-high range. That said, the stock S exhaust is a great option.

I'll second BRG as a good reputable shop. I don't know if they do Harley software. If not them, try Fast lane in Fremont.

I run a Fuelpak FP3 with a canned map matching my Vance Hines 2-1 Upsweep, slightly richened... works good without a dyno

I also have a zipper thundermax replacement ecu and wideband setup... i liked it a lot but most shops here wouldn’t tune it. I ended up going back to the stock Delphi and the fuelpak

Another vote for V&H fuel pac 3
Just installed 103" jugs, wood gear driven cams, TBR 2 into 1 and had some head work done. V&H tweeked the caned map after I uploaded the stats. Very happy w/ the results and support. I'm sure they can download a stock map.

edit: The FP3 will also give you a lot of info such as fault codes with description, engine temp, etc.

I wouldn't mind trying the FP3 - but you guys know of any issue when a Power Vision map is already installed? Will the FP3 essentially erase that map?

I'm not really sure how the on-board computer systems handle aftermarket maps.

KC with BRG in Pacheco is very knowledgeable. He can make ponies or coax them out of an engine

I am not sure but I would absolutely encourage you to take 10 min and call V&H. They have been very generous w/ their time and have been right on so far. I would expect them to give you a fast and accurate answer.

If I understand the Power Vision module, you should be able to put on the stock exhaust and it will tune itself. A phone call will do the trick.

What do you want to know about the powervision? PM me and I can answer your questions being that I work for Dynojet and all.

+1

It’s crazy these days, in an age where you call the airlines and you get some other country, or a computer, how good Vance and Hines customer service is. I’ve only had to call a few times because otherwise their products are pretty decent, but every time I have with some sort of convoluted question the techs are knowledgeable and friendly and actually seem like they want to help

Thought I'd post a reply w/ update.

I decided to just switch it back to stock and see what happens. I reconnected the O2 sensors and put the stock pipes on. Went for a ride up to Alices and back. So far no check engine lights or other issues of note. Seems to run fine with the tune that was put on the bike for my Thunderheaders.

While I'm happy it's quiet... it's almost too quiet now. I don't know if I'll ever be happy but my neighbors sure are!

On behalf of your neighbors and everyone else who hates loud Harleys, I thank you...:ride

It's funny how many people have an "F the world" attitude when it comes to this stuff, but I've always felt I should try to maintain good relationships with those outside the motorcycle world as it's better for all of us.

If I lived in the country away from a lot of people I wouldn't care at all as I'm not bugging anyone... but I live in a quiet neighborhood.

Parenthetically, it's unlikely that you will find a Ca shop that will dyno a street bike and tune it. The fines are huge.
