Seriously- one of the best laptops I've ever owned. Built by an I.T. geek with a serious tendency to overengineer everything he touches. Selling because I no longer travel much, and I'd like to use the cash to build myself a new HTPC.
Features include:
This model was a special one Toshiba made for the BestBuy 'Blue Label' line. It features a textured metal case and matching palm rest which is both comfortable and does NOT hold fingerprints. In addition to the above, I have to say that the Dolby soundsystem and speakers on this are quite clean and clear. (You'll still need to go external if you're really into booming bass though) The battery is in good shape, I exercise it regularly, and I generally average between 3 to 4 hours of life depending on the task. The screen, while "only" 14 inches, is VERY clear and sharp. I've worked on 17-inchers that left me with a headache after an hour, this one never leaves my eyes even a bit tired.
I've just done a clean install of Windows 7 Home Premium. It's worth noting that between the SSD and the processor, cold-boot to desktop only takes about 15 seconds. And yes, this will run Win10 easily if you want it to. I didn't.
There ARE two visual defects- 1) the touchpad surface was an applique, which has worn over time. No effect on functionality, which is perfect. It just doesn't live up to the rest of the machine visually. 2) one of the hinge covers for the LCD panel was mis-installed at some time in the past. I tried to correct it, but the plastic felt like it would break rather than flex back into position so I left it alone. Once again, no impact on function. I just want to give complete information on the laptop- both good and bad.
So what's it all boil down to? This is a hugely competent machine. I built it for my own needs, and have pampered it every way possible. As long as you're not looking for a hard-core VR gaming machine, I think you'd have a hard time topping this one.
Price is $475. Please p.m. or call 707/881-7868. Thanks!
