Tissue Necrosis--that's a thing, and you can catch it

LOL, doctor called it "an ordinary beach infection"...........Yet the victim himself says ""The tragic and comic component of this whole situation is that I caught a disease, which (let's not say how and why)….."

Why the secrecy? STD of some kind?

And on the same page: A popup video saying the TSA is new checking powders carried on. Ya think they should have started doing that many years ago? I have carried lots of protein powder on board many times, without ever being asked to open my bag. That shit could have easily been anthrax, plastic explosive, or cocaine.

good catch, I had the same thought as well.
Perhaps the reason was some act, or some other illicit thing that leads to infection on the skin.

For me the more striking part is that you can catch it, b/c that would mean it could accidentally happen to you or your family--depending on how big the risk is or what procedure is performed which concerns the skin.

well about that, no idea. But what are they supposed to do? Would you like to bi*ch about if they start prohibiting powders...? :dunno There has to be some balance between inspecting things and/or questioning and stalking the person as the claim is that the most secure airline does it :rolleyes

I'm saying, if you're not going to check my unmarked jug with almost a full pound of mystery powder in it, then why do you ask me to take my shoes and belt off? Their priorities are so fucking stupid.

when i was a kid, i went to the beach and was barefoot most of the time. went home, becuz i was a kid, did not bother to wash my feet afterwards ... i developed scaly skin and toe nails. had to go to the dermatologist to get checked. apparently i contracted some kind of fungus which required a special lamp treatment and injection to make it go away

I read an article earlier this year about a couple of vacationers in the Dominican who weeks after were walking barefoot on the beach had to have ringworm removal treatment.

There's a lot of scary microbes out there in the wild.

Yeah... Right. This is just some mysterious way you're thinking of sabotaging something so don't blame them of thinking of the other main priorities first. It's just in your head that you think this is a bigger priority than the more common ones.

Not to mention wasn't the original topic :laughing

That is scary. And worthy of knowing

In the Amazon jungle, you can catch all sorts of crazy microbes, fungus, mites, and deadly insects that can kill you. So how did early man survive all that without Merthiolate, that stinging red stuff your parents used to put on your Boo Boo's, and Bacitracin ointment?

By forming a commune...

... doing what mama taught him...

... And by praying to that incidental round ghetto bird in the sky.

Probably not STD. I'm betting he was injecting some sort of drug, sharing dirty needles.

Probably something like that.

security theater.

"In one case, an alarm sounded, but even during a pat-down, the screening officer failed to detect a fake plastic explosive taped to an undercover agent's back. In all, so-called "Red Teams" of Homeland Security agents posing as passengers were able get weapons past TSA agents in 67 out of 70 tests — a 95 percent failure rate, according to agency officials."

But, really, the plane passengers and crew are absolved of sin, now, right? Dude smelled like death. I think people were mad at the passengers and crew for kicking this guy off the plane...

Why do you think so, because he was Russian? Doubtful unless he infected himself before going on vacation, but certainly possible.

Edit: D'oh, did not first see the, "(let's not say how and why)" quote by him prior to his death.
