Tim Ryan suspension - yes or no?

Kind of an odd thing to say, but I think a warning should have been enough.

Dumb comment, but I kind of think all sports commentators sound pretty stupid anyway. I don't think the comment was made with racist intent given the context, so not guilty.

Over-reaction.

It would only be valid to take the action they did if he had a history of gray area remarks and had ignored warnings.

Taken by itself, I've heard worse many times.

"He's really good at that fake, Lamar Jackson, but when you consider his dark skin color with a dark football with a dark uniform, you could not see that thing," Ryan said on air. "I mean you literally could not see when he was in and out of the mesh point."

That sounds like someone objectively describing how something looks, to me.

"He's really good at that fastball, Randy Johnson, but when you consider his white skin color with a white baseball with a white uniform, you could not see that thing"

That sounds like someone objectively describing how something looks, to me.

Bingo. When you understand football and that play it all makes sense.

And that is why pitchers are not allowed to wear white sleeves and the home plate back drop is dark green.

I'm gonna go with not racist and the reason why would be because it's not racist.

Rolls with it...
If you can't see the football, you probably shouldn't be a pro football player...

I'm thinking there just might be a little racism going on.

No, not with Ryan's comment directly. I'm thinking that if Ryan had brown skin himself, there would have been no outrage and thus no suspension.

not seeing at is racist. it was an observation.

but in this day, that's something that simply shouldn't be said, because it can be construed that his tremendous skill that he's worked his entire life at is diminished due to his advantageous skin color. I'm good with a game suspension and subsequent moving the f on.

or, he's just really good at hiding the ball on a fake. His job is to practice that shit every day until it's perfect and the defense can't see it. From my context, that's just describing a situation. Wrong choice to point it out though. People have a right to be disturbed by the comment, due to their context.

And he's wearing white wristbands lol

Kinda the flip-side of "they're not intelligent enough to play quarterback" and the less evil "maybe you should think about a different position, like receiver, or DB..."

I agree not racist but in today’s sensitive world I agree with the suspension too.
