Well I got a ticket over a month ago and haven't received it in the mail. I am assuming that it is on the way......
So I am just wondering, for all the peeps that have gotten tickets any time recently, how long have they taken to get to you....

Usually within a month it should be there. Even if it never shows up in the mail though you are required to take care of it by the date it shows on the original ticket.

mine both came after three or four weeks. i would suggest that if you dont get it in a week or two to go to the court and get the information yourself

It just a reminder type deal when they send it through the
mail. They are not required to send them. Better to call then
to wait for one of those to show.

Only reason that I ask is because I need to set a court date......and when I called and talked to the clerk she told me that I can't do anything without the courtesy note.......so i guess that I should just call them:(

Does anyone know, depending on the ticket do some take longer then others?

Looks like you have a bench warrant out for your arrest.....
Just go down to the godamm court house and sign up for traffic school or squirol.

Does the court even have a record of your ticket yet?

I've had a ticket outstanding since May, court date has come and gone. Courts can't tell me how much to pay until they get their copy of the ticket, my name isn't in their system at all, and told me (got contact name etc.) to not bother turning up on my court date because if they don't have a copy of the ticket, I won't be on the docket that day. The clerk also stated that this is happening quite often and it really depends on how long it takes the officer to send their copy to the courts. You really should call to check if they have any information, I happened to call again after I orginally read this thread and the ticket still isn't in the system.

I'll keep waiting and keep calling the courts every so often, and hope my ticket got lost.

Funny you should bring this up now,

I got a tickey on hwy 1 in Monterey on 5/12 the court date at the bottom of the ticket says 8/27,

I still haven't gotten the notice yet so I called the court yesterday, after 22 minutes on hold the clerk told me the ticket number's not in the system.

I'm thinking "cool I fell through the crack :teeth) then the clerk told me they are real behind & I should have my notice in the next two weeks :cry

VTRweasel,

They've been telling me that for 1.5 months now (Sonoma County), I just say OK. Gives me more time to save up the cash to pay for the ticket and traffic school. I hope they give me another year or 2 to save :laughing , but I have a feeling my notice will come much sooner than that :( .

I'm glad I read this post!!

I just got my first ticket in over ten years and I'm really not sure just how it works either!

I didn't know you had to show up somewhere, I thought they just sent you something in the mail that had the amount of the fine on it and an address on where to go for traffic school. (If eligable)

Now when I look at the bottom of my ticket (I never looked before), I see that I have to show up on 8/12/03!!! WTF?!?! I have to show up somewhere?????????

This just keeps getting beter and better!!

Maybe I'd better give them a call, as I've not received anything in the mail yet either.

when you get the courtesy notice in the mail it may have the option to mail in the bail or you can go to court before the date. if you have the time i do suggest you go to court because just pleading guilty in front of the judge usually, if the judge is nice, gets the fine reduced to the minimum

How many points??

How many points does it take for you to be ineligible for traffic school??

I've got a commercial license (that I haven't used in years) and just found out that MY point count is 1 1/2 times the regular count for class "C" drivers.

I heard if you go to court, you're automatically ineligible for traffic school. Hell, if I find out that I'm not elligable for traffic school anyway, I may as well go to court and try to get the fine reduced!

Last ticket I got, it took nearly 3 months for the courtesy notice to show up. I think I got it about a week before my bail/traffic school registration was due.

Wow, I must be doing something wrong. I just realized that the last ticket I got was on my 1974 Honda CB750, when it was brand new in 1974.

35 in a 25. Major offense!

I don't remember any of this courtesy note shit. As I remember, I had to show up within 11 days and take care of it.

WOOT!

Tiffie,
I earned my speeding ticket on the way to Laguna and recvd my "Notice of Bail" @ 2 weeks later. I was hoping that the CHP was not gonna file it but lo and behold, he did his job.

I would also ask Slowpoke about the details of getting, fighting, responding to a ticket. He knows wassup for the most part. I have not dealt with it yet.

Tiffie,

When I received my last ticket (from my crash) they never even sent me a courtesy notice. I had to call the court and then they sent me a notice. At that point I decided to try my luck (again) fighting the ticket via mail - and luckily I won.

You might want to try giving the mail thing a try, cuz if you lose, then you can just tell them you want a court date afterwards because you were not happy with the decision.

Lemme know if you want any more info. I can at least give you info on what I did and what worked for me.

Best of luck.

Well I just got off the phone with the courts and my ticket hasn't even been turned in......She told me that Hayward Police Dept has up to a year to turn it in, so I just have to keep calling back to see if they get it......Maybe I will get lucky and they won't turn it in at all :teeth but i know that I am not that lucky.
