Here I am sitting beside the freeway with my broken trailer. The cheap POS broke at one of the pivot points where the folding trailer "folds" and was dragiing along behind me with my bikes tire hanging out in the air. Some one pulled up next to me and was gesticulating wildly and I figures " ust be something flapping in the breeze" :wow I had NO IDEA. Anyway I have somebody coming with a pickup cuz I dont feel good about trying to drive the bsxr home like this. Kendon trailer is sure going to hear from me tomorrow. I wonder if they will take reaponsiblility for it. It is about 2.5 years old and i always keep it in the garage and out of the weather. I think it may have seen a thundershower coming back from buttonwillow once. . Nothing better to do while I wait for OLDCAT with the truck so here are some pics

DAMN! Good thing the bike didnt get damaged.

Was it a weld that broke, or a bolt that came loose?

I thought those Kendon's where built like tanks for hauling Harleys around.
I'm curious to know how Kendon reacts.

This is the second time I've seen a report here of a Kendon breaking there. Looks like the weld broke?

Did you ever drive it around with the back folded down but with no weight on it? I.e. did the back ever bounce on it's hinge? Their docs warn against that.

As spendy as these things are, their welds sure are shitty. Perhaps I should try to get mine beefed up there before it happens to me too. My bike would be on the ground 'cause I took the rail off and use a Sport Chok to move the center of mass back and reduce the tongue weight some.

The tube was welded into the flange that pivots and the whole tube just tore out. I am on my way now again. thanks to friends with trucks. also I never drive it around without the bike on it

Man, that could have been sooo much worse;) . Glad nothing else was damaged and kudos to Paul for helping you. Several years ago a friend of mine lost a tie down on his bike while coming home from Sacramento. He dragged it a couple miles (at 65mph) before someone flagged him down. His bike looked like some sort of factory display unit...it was perfectly ground down so you could see all the internal sections:laughing .

yeah I would dothe same. let me know if anybody ever needs a hand . Of course I have to get my trailer fixed first.. Kendon got right back to me but want the vin etc which i dont have as I am at work but they are not ignoring me at least

They want the VIN number so they can tell you it's out of warranty... FWIW, you can probably get a local welder to fix it for very little money if Kendon won't do anything.

Hey! I resemble that remark! :laughing:laughing :cry

It was great to finally end a race weekend with my bike, body and leathers all in one piece. It is kind of funny the small victories we celebrate, my entire pit and all of my friends were congratulating me on FINISHING.

Fortunatley, Ramon's get off wasn't serious and with the help a cast of thousands including super mechanic Jason G. we got him back on the track for his next race. Never fun to see your buddies go down though, were all a bit nervous right when it happend. But that photo is absolutely priceless, I'm going to order a 8x10 for my racing wall :p

Overall it was a fan-freaking-tastic weekend! I particularly enjoyed not being stuffed into T7 by some old dude who should just stick to F40 and leave the rest of us young bucks alone ;)

See you out the on the new bike next time Paul.

Well here is an update. I've been talking to Mike at Kendon and he says, my warranty is up, and I didnt tie dow the bike properly. you have to tie down the rear so the back doesnt bounce. I dont know about that as the rear tire on my gsxr only hangs over onto the back part by a few inches so I dont know how much leverage you can get by tieng down the rear of the bike. BUT he offered to send my out a new rear frame if I would pay the shipping. Around 85$ if I ship to a friends business All in all it is probably a pretty fair offer and thats what i told hem. He COUlD be a total dick and not give me anything but since he know the ENTIRE motorcycling world is watching this thread with baited breath Ithink he know better than to do that:teeth .. Now hopefully i can get it back together before my next two days at thill on the 2nd and third or whatever it is with lance. I miss my trailer and would hate to have to throw it in the back of the pickup. Not with my back anyway:laughing We shal see how it all pans out
