Thinking of a Friday ride

So I'm thinking of a Friday ride (southerly route this time) -

Depart from San Mateo - maybe 25... coalinga.... etc

Tim, any suggestions for a nice 300 - 400 mile loop?

Any takers?

Again, 3-5 experienced riders would be ideal.

If interested let's put it together.

Part II of the Friday ride

So far the map looks like a round trip distance of 441 miles (RT from Foster City that is).

So far it's shaping up as follows -

Foster City to HWY35
HWY35 to HWY9
HWY9 to HWY1
HWY1 cut across to HWY25
HWY 25 to HWY198
HWY198 to G14
G14 to HWY46
HWY 46 to HWY1
HWY1 to HWY17
HWY17 to HWY280
HWY280 to Foster City

Not a ride for the faint of heart.

As always... the route is not set - this is the first draft.

Coastal mountain ride? From San Mateo? Oooh! Off the top of my head. Head up 92 to the top of the hill, head south across the top of the San Cruz Mtns on down 9 to 35 to Santa Cruz.

Or, you could head down through San Jose onto Highway G8 (parallels Hwy 101) to Gilroy. Never ridden this one, but it's come up in conversation.

Highway 25? Or course! One of California's best! Parallel is Carmel Valley Road. At the end of Highway 25 is the Panoche - Los Gatos Loop. You might consider this. Very much middle of nowhere stuff.

Or you could loop on over to Highway G14, take Nacimiento Rd (total cowtrail) on over to Hwy 1, and come back up the coast. Punch that into your gps and see what comes up.

Interesting you would mention that route.

With the exception of G8 and the Los Gatos loop that is PRECISELY the route I am planning!

Should be a good (albeit long) ride.

I'm kind of waiting to see what the weather does also.
