Therapy Dog Referral

Greetings KS family;

I am curious if anyone here has connections to the therapy dog community. My Mom is undergoing treatment for bone marrow cancer. It is currently kicking her ass to the moon. I would love to arrange for a therapy dog to come to her home so that she could get a little canine luvin and maybe a bit of the fight that she needs to go on through the hell that is cancer. She has not had a dog for quite a while, yet she still adores them. Before she was diagnosed, we were planning on helping her with adopting a dog, but that has been put on hold.

She is in Orange County. My google-fu is not very strong and I did not find any group that would go to someone's home. I am even willing to pay or make a donation to a therapy dog group if something like this could happen.

Some of them do home visits, such as this one.

I would recommend contacting a couple of them and explaining your needs. Even if a particular group doesn't do home visits in her area they should be able to refer you to an appropriate group.

Make sure it is a breed that is hypo allergenic, such as an Italian Greyhound.
Any outfit that does this should be doing this with non dander, furless dogs anyway.
