Dammit, I'm finding some good shit online again... gotta put the word out!!!
(this is not a 'favorite music' thread... this is 'music you just now discovered that you think is pretty cool')
The Dining Rooms - You (from 'Tre') - nifty latin samba meets trip-hop
Rippingtons - Nature of the Beast (from 'curves ahead') - downtempo smooth jazz with a lot of good interplay between guitar and sax, with a lot of rather lush arrangements behind the whole thing
Supreme Beings of Leisure - You're Always the Sun (from SBL first album) - funky bass beat and guitar work meets house mixology, good vocalist
The Dixie Dregs - Ice Cakes (from 'what if') - jean-luc ponty style violin meets jazz backing section and walter becker-esque guitar pickin'. sounds like a jam session in some dive bar in soho. or maybe aspen. oh yes, they recruited jan hammer for the keyboards too, sounds like.
Morcheeba - Shoulder Holster (from 'Big Calm') - sultry torch singer meets Massive Attack style drum n bass downtempo. if you're not stoned before you put this on, you probably will feel stoned by the time the song ends.
Thus ends the Deacon's playlist sample for the evening. NEXT!
