Sunny (and hot) spain. Madrid to be exact. Northern burbs close to the sierra. It is somewhat similar to cali -- except for nearly nil police enforcement :teeth

To all RACERS out there, I was going through some of my racing pictures (1985-1988) and found some pics of guys I don’t know. What I want to do is post the AFM# and see if anyone out there knows them. I would be willing to scan the pics and e-mail them. I am looking for some feedback on this.

Thanks
Jay

Beating Nicky Hayden

Funny ol' pix on this thread, good stuff.

In '91 I raced a YSR50 endurance race with the CRRC (now called CMRA) at Oak Hill Raceway in Henderson, Texas.

My teammate and I finished 14th. We might've finished higher, but some dumbass novice ran out of gas, parked the bike and hung out with a cornerworker for 10 minutes until the same dumbass suddenly wondered if the YSR50 petcock had a Reserve. It did. :laughing

In all fairness to me, I was a last-minute fill-in rider who had never rode a YSR50 til that weekend. Can't feel too bad though, we still beat some punk-ass kid named Nicky Hayden. :shhh

Tommy Hayden won that race easily, gawd he was fast. Back then, all the media hype surrounded Tommy as the Next Big Thing, Nicky was still kinda waiting in the wings.

Tommy was tiny, Nicky was even tinier...helped their power-weight-ratio nicely! (Or in the case of the YSR50, power to wait). They would pull away from me in the straights easily, and I only weighed 150 lbs in 1991.

I remember talking to Earl Hayden for a few minutes that day, I was impressed that he had come all the way from Kentucky to Texas for YSR racing.
