put out some feelers and barf seems to have a decent, if somewhat quiet, MMA fan base. figured it may be in part to no regular chatting so I figured I would start a thread to consolodate the talk :cool

thougfhts to get started: just how good is john jones? Four straight champs in a row, destoryed. next ont he list is hendo, whom i think has the least chance of anyone hes faced. tho i like hendo a lot. he basically has one round to knock jones the fuck out...

overeem suspended until december for positive test. the meeting woth the nevada AC was interesting. they seemed to essentially regret suspending him,. telling him a bunch how smart and wel spoken he was, how they were disapointed. his doctor even testified but in the end, hes suspended. it is what it is I guess. I like the reem, but dude got caught, for whatever reason.

sonnen silva coming up. sonnen going buck wild at the last presser lol

In.

Jones: a rare guy that actually matches up to the hype. Huge Hendo fan and you can never count him out. But, he's going to have a tough time with Jones. Rashads right hand is just as good, and that didn't win him the fight.

Reem: Maybe a good guy. Bad example for sportsmanship, as the dude is clearly cheating. It would be interesting (and likely fairly depressing) to know how prevalent it is in UFC, compared to say...football. Seems like everybody in NFL is juicing. I am bummed we don' get to see him fight Junior. I like Mir, but wanted to see Junior?Reem.

I believe Junior would have handily won that fight.

Sonnen/Silva: Sonnen too is a cheater. It seems he cheats at everything in life. He represents everything I hate. That said, his WWF fanism has transferred well to the UFC in that he can certainly make himself relevant by using his mouth. He sells fights.

Also, although he was cheating and Silva was injured, he made a good showing the last fight, exposing some weakness we haven't seen in Silva. Of course, he then got submitted. So, it will be very interesting to see what happens in this next fight. He's got skills, no doubt. But, he himself seems to have been exposed a it by the Count in his last fight.

I would like to see Silva break his face up and make him go away for good, lol. But, that is what makes the guy good for the sport to some degree: he's the classic love-to-hate-guy. He's no dummy that's for sure.

Some good fights coming up.

John Jones... yes, he's good, but for some reason, he doesn't get me all riled up. He's very good... for his weight class, but I'm liking the lighter weights even more and more. 170 is stacked, 155 down to 125 are all MEGA stacked. You have to be insanely talented to compete at the higher levels in those classes. Not to say the higher weight classes aren't talented, but the lower weight classes are more competitive, I think.

Don't know who will beat him, but someone will someday, most likely. I don't give Hendo much of a chance, but you never know. I love the dude's attitude... he would literally fight anybody on the planet.

Overeem... too bad he didn't cycle right. :laughing The fact of the matter is that PED's are pervasive in most pro sports, so I can't get too harsh on him. I mean, Lesnar was actually arrested for selling roids back in the day, if I remember correctly.

To me, the fact that the majority of fighters are silent on the matter speaks volumes.

Silva/Sonnen: Chael makes me laff. He's a blow hard, but he knows it and it's working. No one knew who he was until he molestered Marquardt. Now, everyone knows him. Most likely, he won't win again, but I'm hoping for a good fight.

Puts the work in
Diaz vs. Miller how good will that be :) Looking forward to that card.

Main Card
Diaz vs Miller
Koscheck vs Hendricks
Palhares vs Belcher
Barry vs Johnson

Jones is good, seems to be just that much faster and a thinker on his feet. Hendo is not one to dismiss, does he have Jones number? Only if he clips him with a right hand.

Yeah, that's going to be a good card.

I think they should give Rory MacDonald the winner of Kos/Hendricks.

I couldn't agree more.

I still miss the WEC for that reason. Nice to see it in UFC now though.

The little guys BRING it, and don't gas out.....ever. :thumbup

Yeah, I'm glad they've mixed the WEC classes into the UFC as well as WEC fighters from higher weight classes. I think people forget that Stann and Condit are WECers.

The 125lb shootout recently was, for the most part, nutz. Too bad they screwed up the scoring.

I do like mir's recent comments on heavyweights tho lol

Something to the effect of that no matter what in the smaller classes fans are still like, "I'm 220 I could probably take them in a fight. But if you think that about a heavy weight you're stupid " lol

I love mir. He is prob my favorite fighter, earned his title shot. He won't win, but he's the most deserving

I think these guys have no equals in their weight class, based on the fact I've not seen them lose or even get dominated in any of their professional fights:

HW - Junior Dos Santos
LHW - Jon "Bones" Jones
MW - Anderson Silva

Am I wrong? Can anyone point to any fight where these 3 were losing in any round?

I'd like to see Silva go back up to LHW and fight Jones. A match of undefeated fighters! My guess is that Jones would win because he's much bigger and he's the natural LHW while Silva is a natural MW. But I'm also guessing this will never happen, just like a Pacman v. Mayweather bout :laughing

Well, I think Silva lost those rounds to Sonnen before catching him in the triangle.

I agree these are the top guys in their divisions. But, one of the things I think we can all appreciate about MMA is that anyone can win on any given day.

Bellator:

Anybody watching this? I have yet to see even one fight in Bellator, but it seems to have many good fighters...

regarding sonnen, I LOVE sonnen, but heres why: dude is so obviously trollling. he isnt even close to serious. hes a massive troll that no one in silvas camp nor in the media have realized is trolling. I always knew it, but at the last presser when he said

"And I'll tell you something else, I think it's disgusting, I think it's an embarrassment to the sport and himself that he'd come around with that fake belt when the entire world watched me defeat him on live TV."

lol now hes accusing andersen of dong exactly what chael is doing, now i KNOW hes trolling

you need to watch the silva documentary that was filmed leading up to that fight. a lot of people say silva was losing the rounds but unless you see the docu you would never realize he was taking the shots from sonnen to prove a point. he may of been losing the rounds but he knew exactly what he was doing.

What point was he trying to prove? That Sonnen can't hit hard? I haven't watched that fight so I can't think of any other reason.
