I've got to do some work on my car Saturday (sorry, no stunting for me this weekend, BTB) so who wants to get out and ride Sunday? I'm thinking 'The Loop' ... meet at the gas station at the base of 9 at 10:00 AM.

Standard group ride. I'm expecting to have sub-groups of fast and slow. We'll have a designated sweeper on each leg. I'll even bring the yet-to-be-built first-aid tankbag we're going to assemble for such rides.

Who's in?
I might show steve, what's the loop anyway?

So do we just look for the congregation at 76 @ 10AM? Who's going to be leading the pack? I just don't want to hold anyone up.

Can't wait to ride with you all....the group of guys I've been riding with over the past 2 years have been dropping off like flies.... I need new riding buds!

I'll by on my 2000 R1 Blue (what else???) w/ugly drab grey/black Teknic leathers and newer graphics Haga helmet.

See y'all there!!!

If you get to Alice's before Instance, watch in awe as he side-skitches down Hwy. 35 to the parking lot entrance, does a turning stoppie into the lot then hops onto the seat for a Christ pose, just before pulling a reverse 12 o'clock. :twofinger

I wish!!!!! :D :D Those pictures in my avitar are of this dude that wears the same leathers and helmet as I do and just happens to have the same bike. Talk about coincidence!

:D

Streetsquid, you'll just see the group of people at the 76 station. And dont worry about being slow, its not a race and you wont be holding anyone back, you wont be a burden, etc etc. We ride to ride.

Kinda last minute, but anyone else coming from up north? If so, think it would be a good idea to meet up at that vista point at hwy35 and hwy92 at around 10ish?

Killswitch,

PedroPat and myself will be meeting at the vista point at quarter to ten (9:45 am) and with the intent of sucking down some coffee at Alice's before we have to split. If you don't mind meeting fifteen minutes earlier, the come on. I'm riding a purple/yellow 'Zook and Pat's on a yellow Ninja. Hope to see you then.

'The Loop' has many meanings. Generally it's riding out to the coast from Alice's, down to Santa Cruz, back up 9 to Skyline, and then return to Alice's. It's a great time, and with so many riders we won't be blazing any asphalt. Of course, if anyone DOES want to ride fast they can just go up front. Again, I'm planning to play sweeper the whole day so I'll be bringing up the rear...

...which should be a nice change from "taking it up the rear", which I've been doing a great deal of lately on this site. :D :D

Dress warm. an extra layer is gonna help if we hit the coast. I'm looking out my window right now and the fog is ozzing hitting the mountain. Overcast on the coast. The lightest drizzle about an hour ago, but the asphalt is dry now. Se'ya at Alice's.

Oh ya, silver and red 00'f4, black Alpinstar jacket. (you know, the boring color.) :D

I just got back from the BARF group ride. There were 21 riders in total. Many met at the 76 station and we left at 10:15. HWY 9 was a little wet. We then stopped at 4 corners for everyone to gather up.

The ride to Alice's was treacherous! First the black pavement was wet so it was a little scary. Although we were going slow so there were no big surprises. However, near windy hill the fog got so thick that the visibility was no more than 50 feet. And with the visors fogging up it made it real interesting.

At Alice's we re-grouped and chatted for about a half hour and decided the route. Others were saying the back side of 84 was wet but we decided to go that way anyway.

The backside of 84 wasn't that wet at all. We then took Pescadero to Cloverdale and out to HWY 1.

We then took HWY 1 to Davenport for lunch. After lunch, while we were getting ready to go, some guy on a Harley decided to show all of us how his Hog can wheelie. Man... he rode that wheelie on HWY 1 for quite a distance. It was no accident, he did it three times. Thumbs up!

We then headed down to Santa Cruz to get back onto HWY 9. On HWY 9 there was an accident at the tight hairpin turn before HWY 236. Poor guy looked like he got hurt pretty bad. The rest of the ride up HWY 9 was fun. We re-grouped at 4-corners and talked for a bit and went home.

I really had a great time and it was a pleasure to meet so many cool people. Steve was the perfect host and I especially want to thank him for making this group ride so fun.

Looking forward to the next one...

Fun ride

I'm back, I had a lot of fun out there. It was good meeting everyone. Andy that was a nice recap but you left out the part about the dead hawk, who was it that took it out? The most I hit was what appeared to be a bee.

Steve and I'm sorry I forgot your name with the zx9r. Thanks for running sweeper duty today. Just about every turn was a blind turn for me so I know I wasnt exactly moving too fast at times.

Steve!! Great job on organizing an excellent ride.

...sorry i left so early. Hope u guys had fun. My tires were worn out, i wasn't feeling too good, and i had some work, so couldn't make the whole ride. But, for the few minutes that i was there, it was great!! Steve, i know it wasn't much fun being back there, but thanks for making sure the large group was in line. Next time i'll make the whole ride!! :D

I agree.....great ride all. Mr. Brentwood here....took me an hour and 10 minuted from the 76 station in Saratoga to my doorstep....but after the ride in the hills..boy was the trip home BORING!!! My right wrist is killing me for having to lazily hold the throttle open...all the way up 85, 280, 680, 580, and then finally 20 miles up Vasco Rd.....

Next time....I'm taking the FZ....so much more comfy.

P.S. - Gotta give props to that Harley guy!!! Now that was impressive.
