Or how about acting in a professional manner and not beating someone while they are lying on a ground and after they are handcuffed?

I can't think of them as officers, they are nothing more than thugs in uniform.

No excuse for what they did.

That thief just got a giant payday, I'll bet that lawyers are lining up to represent him it would be easy money.

In cases like this, the 'officers' should be paying for the lawsuit, not the taxpayers.

I hope all those cops that were getting their jollies in go to prison. I'm sure they will suffer some beatings there once he prisoners find out what they did for a living.

I have a great idea for the bad guy's
DO NOT RUN and and maybe you will not get your ass kicked or shot in the back.

The police who are doing these kinds of things are doing them for a self-gratuitous reason. They are not the kinds of people who should be wearing a badge and a gun.

Granted, if the person hadn't run in this case and the case where he got shot 8 times in the back (at least that many shots) they wouldn't have gotten shot or beaten up, but we don't want law enforcement officers who are going to indulge their angry tendencies either.

They would have tased him off the horse and beat him. Oh wait, that actually happened. I'm surprised they didn't shoot the horse because they were fearful of their lives. A horse is way more dangerous then a dog.

Your original post implied otherwise, and on some level excused their behavior. "Well he/she shouldn't have..." Sounds familiar?

I've got a better idea. Police shouldn't beat people because they choose to run. We all make mistakes but that doesn't give police the right to beat you.

I'm definitely in the 'it depends' category. The dude that got shot in the back the other day didn't deserve it at all.

On the other hand, the guy that led Texas DPS on a high speed chase all over Central Texas back when I was in college, endangering hundreds of lives over a 60 minute period, ending with him ramming a cop car and injuring an officer, deserved to get his ass beaten severely by the cops who finally captured him, IMO, which he did.

So, every situation is a little different.

On a more serious note, there are definitely situations where physically striking someone is required to subdue them. One needs to review the entirety of the situation before drawing any conclusions. Unfortunately, between the media, the activists and the ambulance chasing lawyers, there's usually about 3 hours between the incident and the trial and conviction by public opinion these days.

You're all playing into the media's hands by jumping to conclusions based on assumptions. You can't see what the suspect is doing in the video, so based on the video alone, there is no way to determine if it was excessive force beyond what appeared to be reasonably necessary to apprehend the criminal and overcome his resistance.

One thing that is clear in the video is the fact that the suspect was resisting arrest after his warrant service in connection to other crimes.

Bleeding hearts love the bad guys until they become victims themselves, or their loved ones become victims. Then it's all about how the police are not doing enough.
