That's what I get for pretending

Decided to head out cow mountain today. After beating around the trails for a bit I ended up over on the lakeport side. I decided I could use something cold so I hit the asphalt for some Starbucks posing. I was having fun hitting some nice wheelies. While sipping on my Frappuccino I decided to pretend I had the sumo kit that I've been trying to order for the last year and a half and take hwy 175 over to hopland. It was a blast! The big xr can really hang some twistys and wheelies for days. Unfortunately now I need a new front tire. I have to quit pretending and get those damn sumo wheels!:x

Useful idiot
Knobbies handle pretty well on dry pavement, but they do take a beating. Rather than getting a sumo setup, why not get some trail tires for the XR? I am currently running some on the 690 and it still does reasonably well in dirt, and is great on the street at well.

i have a set that came with it. I might use them some day but really want the full on Tard kit.

I stopped reading right there Mister

You know you're craving one now.

Sounds like a great day, and the Hopland grade is awesome! The tire is almost a worthy sacrifice!

the Husky is doing great actually:ride

the only thing to deal with right now is a bolt that had been sheered off has now come loose. a small amount of oil is slowly dribbling it's way out but nothing bad at this point. and the bolt in question is in the upper portion next to the valve covers sooooo, i gotta strip the bike again and remove and replace. no biggie at this point:laughing

will add pics tomorrow or when i can get the work done.

Shit we need Husky owners Anonymous.. how is it even legal to make bikes that break so much?

Not that I don't love mine ;-) This is what Ducati owners must feel like, except everything costs 10x more.

@op: besides tires, I think a biggie for sumo conversion is the front brakes. Does your bike have the tiny dirt disc? For spirited street use, I'd much prefer the 320 discs that the sumos have. For tires, yea, just get those semi-adventurous ones. Unless you're tracking it, won't matter much I think. I run sport-touring tires and I'm nowhere near even noticing the difference to real sport tires. Even took it to the kart track on the ST tires and they performed amazing for my little amateur hobby purposes.

How about budgets style? 17" rims and spokes, then re-lace yourself. Then a 320mm rotor.

175 has some of the shittiest pavement I know of for such a great stretch of road. It chews up almost any tires. I heard they repaved it, but it's only on the eastern slope:thumbdown
