Textile over-jackets

I have noticed, twice now, people wearing a textile jacket over their leather jacket. Is this a good idea?

i've worn a snowboarding jacket over my leathers. Look like a squid who can afford trackpants but cant afford the other half. Oh well, keeps me warm, most likely do it again if necessary. Figure i ride a motorcycle, might as well stand out some more.

I have a windbreaker and a pair of very thin ski pants that I wear UNDER my gear. Works great!
