Does anyone know if there are any changes to the tech requirements for 2019?
Only a few weeks left to get things on order and installed before Round 1.

Thanks!

Thanks Daredevil.

That's the 'old' 2018 rulebook, I'm looking to see if there's anything new for 2019 that the AFM hasn't clearly communicated to the membership yet.
I remember scrambling for a brake and toe guard last year because that requirement wasn't very obvious, I'm hoping to avoid a similar fate this year.

Less than 3 weeks to go means everything _should_ be finalized at this point...

I'll update this thread if I learn anything, so far no reply from Tech either.

:rofl

In January's BOD minutes, there was a bit about having paper copies of the rule book, and something about finishing the discussion in February's meeting. But really, there's still WEEKS left till round one, so...not really surprised.

Prolly also why you haven't gotten to many responses. This is typical-ish. :dunno

Yeah, and this "typical-ish" behavior is probably my chief complaint about the club; the lack of timely communication is frustrating. From my limited point of view there's no good reason safety requirements shouldn't be finalized and published (even just give us a tech bulletin instead of the full rulebook!) earlier. For that matter there's no good reason the rulebook shouldn't be finalized and published earlier (I'm sure that would be nice for people with classes that may be changing). I mean, even the race order hasn't been published! Is it the same as last year? Is it what's on the website listed as *Not Finalized for 2019*? Is it going to swap A to B or stay fixed this year? Those answers are going to affect what I'm able to sign up for, I'd like to know a bit in advance.

Anyway, rant over. I'm just frustrated that my best option is to post a question on a forum "hey, does anyone know anything?" because the official communication channels are still silent, and time is running out.

This happens every year. Now, BOD members work really hard and I genuinely appreciate all the hard work they put in for us.

That said, even though this year there was every intention to get rules, schedule, etc out a lot earlier, if you do things the same way every year you can't expect different outcomes : |

I agree, it's a difficult and largely thankless job. Without the Board doing as much as they already do, we wouldn't have a club anywhere near what the AFM still is today. I am very grateful for the effort they put into the sport. :thumbup

But as you said, this is a recurring issue. I'm sure the Board is aware of it already, they're making the decision not to address it year after year. That part is frustrating.
