Hello fellow BARF Team,
I wanted to give you guys an update on our team and our preparation for the 2019 AFM season. Sadly the season didn't start out like we had hoped. We went to Sears Point in late Feb. to test and get ready for the first round. The track was very green and we were testing a new chassis set up that was very different from previous settings. I felt like I was taking it easy, we were not going to set any records in these conditions. In the second session I came in turn 1, did my downshifts, hit a false neutral and at the apex it popped back into gear and violently highsided me, tumbling, I got up, looked back at what used to be my bike, I could tell something was hurt or broken in my right foot...
This is what the bike looked like post crash. Most all bodywork was trashed( Carbon ) dash was smashed, very bad roadrash on front end and forks, both wheels exploded.
This was my foot after 2 weeks being in a cast, still lots of swelling, I had a broken cuboid bone in my foot and was hoping I would not have to have surgery. After a CT scan and seeing the foot surgeon it would not need an operation. The rash on my pinky toe is from Road Atlanta 1991 at the GNF.
This is the Aircast I have been in for the last 2 weeks, one week to go. The bike now with Gerry at GP Frame and Wheel where it will be straightened and the motor mount will be replaced where it broke off. I would like to say thanks to my team principal Crispin for helping me get back to racing shape, all team sponsors, SPS suspension, BARF Racing, X-lite Helmets, Hotel Biron, Z2 trackdays and especially my wife Barbi for being understanding and a great nurse. We plan to be back at the 3rd round at Thunderhill. I miss all my AFM homies!!!
