Tall Enclosed Canopies/Tents? Where to find?

I'm striking out finding an enclosed canopy or tent that is roughly 8ft tall at the sides.

Anyone have good ideas?

I bought the harbor freight 10x17 portable garage and after bringing it home I realized it's 9ft in the center peak but 6'3 at the sides.

My plan is to put it on the patio length wise and have my gym gear inside. The squat stand I have is 91" tall and I can't turn it side ways. It has to run left to right the 17' length way of the canopy meaning its basically stuck in the middle, not ideal.

My other option is strapping the canopy down on stacked cinder blocks, raising it 16".

Cabela's or Bass Pro Shop? :dunno

The Cabela's catalogue seemed to have stuff like that back in the day.

I'm curious why you don't build something a bit more resilient yourself out of lumber? Seems like you could make something work for a similar price point?

Thought about that yesterday. It's an option. The plastic roof stuff is cheap. 8ft 2x4s are cheap. Wont look as nice but probably last longer than the HF one I posted. Sheets of plywood add up. I'm really only needing it for 6 months or so but I guess it's wise to think we'd be here longer.

Me and SWMBO were running an errand in town and talking yesterday about how we wish we were the ones selling/renting canopies and patio heaters.

the canvas is the part that degades over time and they're available as replacement parts... the time alone to make something out of wood is substantial that i wouldn't consider building something. i'd look for the ones that have the welded joint pieces and a re alittle heavier. you can make the legs longer if wanted with off the shelf pipe from a box store.

i need to put a new tarp on mine and have been casually looking at the recycled billboard tarps available from lots of places. if you don't mind some random remnants of whatever was being advertised it looks like a good long term durable option. a bunch of grommets and a hamer and you're in business

I have a 10x20 tent like the one you pictured. I (used to) park the RV under.
I needed it taller for that reason so I bought some 2" metal poles and cut them to the height I needed to raise the top. Sleeved, drilled and bolted these to the purchased canopy poles. Mine didn't have sides, although I made some anyway. To fit the taller height.

Hadn't heard of the recycled billboard tarps before. Didn't even know that's how they did it. That's a great idea for a longer lasting top!
Thanks!

I mean, if you build a frame, you could just nail up some thick tarps as the walls and have the same insulation as your tent would, right? Having a more stable and heavy frame on the thing would also make your structure more secure to the wind.

Just a thought. :dunno

I've seen those billboard tarps. Thought about just throwing that over everything but then it will never get used. I need to enclose the area so I can lift at night when baby is asleep.

This is nice but $900 shipped. https://www.portablegaragedepot.com/index.cfm?sku=SZ101610H&catid=135

I'm leaning just installing the harbor freight one and using it currently. Main reason to get a 8ft high side walls is to eventually upgrade to a real squat rack that can butt up to a wall. I have the one on the left but the one on the right is the style I want. They all run around 90-93" tall.

I did the same thing, except that I just bought extra leg sections as replacement parts, so they fit right on. Unfortunately, the tarp and the little plastic "feet" that anchor it down only lasted a few years, so I ended up taking it down.

The whole tube frame is in the back of my truck right now, waiting to go to the scrap metal place next week, if anybody wants it.

You can buy all the parts to make this stuff relatively inexpensively. There's a hardware store in San Jose that sells all the connectors. And you can buy the pipe. They make it in I think it's one and a half inch so it's the pipe to use for fencing. And you can buy those pipes and just about any links you want cut it to whatever size you want. And then you buy the tarps to fit over it. It's really not that hard to do.
I built a tent like that several years ago to cover my motorhome. I actually still have all the connectors and stuff if you're interested in the parts I certainly could sell them to you for cheaper than you could buy them at the store. Not sure if I still have the pipes for it but I have the connectors.

Raise the poles with PVC pipe extensions and then whatever you gotta do to lengthen the sides.
