Dr. Told my mom she most likely has one, he is requesting a 2nd opinion, from another set of neurologists, as long as they take her insurance. short version of how it was diagnosed/being diagnosed.

month in a half ago my sister popped in to surprise visit our mom. mom could hardly walk, drop foot on her left foot, had pretty much lost the use of her right hand. this happened extremely fast from normal to current state in about 4 months. She did not have insurance so we got her on the Oregon Health care plan and started the process of getting her into see dr's. Mom is 65 and well after reading what could possibility happen over the next couple of years is down right scary.

anyone know of organizations that help the elderly with things such as helping set up for best quality of life, just a few months ago everything was fine, now she is barely able to cook for herself. its not yet sunk in to me as I am waiting for that second opinion for final results hoping/praying first guy was wrong and its fixable.

Just went on an ALS Charity walk last weekend.
ALS is a nasty disease. Most afflicted are deceased within 5 years of diagnosis.

I don't mean to sound cold. My Dad has had Parkinsons for 23 years, outliving most by years. It is also a horrible disease. He has been ready to die for 5 years.

Good Luck OP.
