Yes tell me what you know. VW is buying back our Passat so I am looking for info on the 2010-2011 MB E63 AMG. the good the bad. I will be getting a warranty through USAA just in case if we go this route. Im also waiting to see what dodge offers for the 2017 Durango's. Cross fingers for a 6.4

What say you BARF. :dunno

$3k for front rotors and pads, which probably isn'tunder warranty.

usaa is a good company, read tthe warranty really carefully. A garden variety mercedes is expensive tto own used, AMG is another ballgame.

ping berto too. Amg is among the worst depreciation out there. When the warranty is up are you goingto fix it yourself out of pocket, or take a bath selling it as the ?3rd? Owner?

You'd be better off with an E550 coupe. It makes a great family car. My wife hauls the baby in it with no issues. 0-60 time is 4.1 which is faster than the E63 at 4.4. The service costs are wayyyyy lower.

Brakes are ridiculously expensive. Everything else is on par with standard Mercedes maintenance and repairs. Which is slightly less than ridiculously expensive :laughing

Dan, the best of that class is the CTS-V. Cheapest to operate and known problems are the rear ends when driven hard.

The 6.2NA motor from Mercedes has two large problems: camshaft lifters and lobes as well head bolts breaking (and hydronic the motor). Big issues. http://www.jacobregarlaw.com/Blog/2...ercedes-Benz-AMG-Class-Action-for-the-M1.aspx

The good news is 2012 + a good vehicles look ok. They still depreciate faster than anything I know and they are autobahn cruisers. My roommate has a 2008 clk63 black series. He's looking at an $8k bill on a 25k mile car for the head bolt problem. He'll do the camshaft issues too while he's in there. We're selling our SL63 with 40k miles same concern after a $7k transmission fix.

Nice cars, but no way, no how. The corvette we replaced the SL63 with has been flawless so far. No on BMW and no on Audi, Dan. If you don't care too much about repair, get the Maserati quatroporte...cheap used and not any worse than something German.

Those fuckers would lose WW3 in two days cause all their shit would break on day 1.

Really? I think it's possibly the most handsome Mercedes I've seen in a long time.

I may be mistaking it for a different model. A guy at work has a big modern MB sedan thats pretty boring looking. Will have to take a look tomorrow to see exactly what model he has.

When does Germany finally start to make luxury cars that are both fun to drive and reliable? It's so amazing that the market lets them get away with the bullshit that they pull.
