Talk me into lusting after a different bike

R3DS!X

Whatever that means
That 701 Vitpilen.... damn that's a good looking bike. I really want it. I would buy it but....

Got daymed that price is kinda high for that kinda performance. Also only 1 caliper up front. :(

I have been out of the loop for a while. No MV's. two of my friends have em so i cant have one.

Things I like:
Lightweight (under 400 and the closer you get to 300 the more points)
looks sexy
unique
has good stoppers
will wheelie for treats
nimble
handle bars are a plus

321..... GO!

Just as a side comment that may or may not change your mind, a single front disc is adequate for that bike. It's more or less a variation of a sumo and the 690/701 sumo's all have a single disc. Just sayin'...

I am aware of this but the fact that I had a better brake setup on my 450srm which was a good 100 lbs lighter would make me want dual discs. I haven't ridden it so i can't say for sure but I have the feeling that I would be underwhelmed by the braking. Maybe I should ride the thing first before shit keeps falling out of my mouth hole.

Moto Beck

The Longest Title Allowed
Triumph Street Triple RS

Stoppers are toppers (brembo m50s)
Screen - tft goodness
engine - business to 7k party to 12k
Suspension - ohlins and showa
Rosso Corsa's sticky icky from the factory
Buttery quickshifter
Easy to work on, 2 year warranty from the factory they were running 0% for 48 months but i think that's over - you should buy it anyway

+1 :thumbup

The Ktm 690 SMC-R floats my boat. 306 pounds. Friend has one. Stupid fun light fast. That single disc Brembo front brake is amazing. Should be able to score a used one for under $7k.

This. The weight/power/top speed numbers don't dictate a second stopper, and adding one will be detrimental to the stated goal of approaching the 300# mark.

If you're looking for sexy bikes, want symmetric high spec stoppers up front, and can get past your MV hurdle, that Dragster RR with the purty while spoked wheels has been lookin like an absolute snack for years... :leghump

It's not my fault...
It is a good looking bike. I was checking it out at Motoexotica the other day. Don't be deterred on the single caliper. The front brake on the 701 is very good.

I see it is a radial mounted front caliper. If it is the same as the 701 it is good.

I have the 701 sm and the front brake is Awesome. 4 piston brembo. It stops really well.

You should get that bike. Unique bike man, give it a try. The lc4 motor they are using is crazy good for a thumper

Actually get the 701 sm. Lomg travel suspension is the way to go!

Light bike... one caliper is enough.

If it stirs your loins do it.. teenagers have been all over that for hundreds of years.
