Support a local racer at Red Bull MotoGP Rookies Cup - Brenden Ketelesen

Make your favoured applicant stand out at the upcoming Selection Event by giving them the Golden Bib. Copy their name from the list below and paste it in the comment section here. This is the only way to vote.
The most popular applicant by the deadline of Sunday October 15th at 6pm Central European Time will wear the Golden Bib at the Selection event in Almeria - October 17, 18,19.
This does not influence the selection of riders to the Rookies Cup but it is a great way of showing your support for your favourite. #RookiesRule

Awesome to see the young man on the list. Can't do it because of not being a facer but I will pass it on to those who are!

Thanks for posting. I was just about to create a thread. Yes, please show you support to our local rider, Brenden.

There is another rider representing our :flag Damian Jigalov (United States)

If you know either or both these kids, please show your support to these riders.

Wishing them both the best. As some of us know, whom supported and followed previous local talent getting their shot at the World level is no easy task, having a very challenging road ahead of them, amongst other great talent.

I believe Brenden's Dad has been active on BARF in the past. They are a great family and really dedicated to the sport. You couldn't find a nicer kid who just loves racing. Its been fun watching Brenden develop as a rider for the last few years. Here are some old pics of him on the dirt track at Prairie City and doing some supermoto racing.

bump - all 3 American riders advance to the next round

(Gabriel Da Silva's name wasn't on the list originally)

they road in the rain today, pretty sure it was B's first time on rain tires. His supermoto experience likely helped out immensely.

I think Blackmon is doing both. The MotoGP RBRC tryouts and then going to Jerez for the KTM RC Cup finals.

Toby is out :( (he isnt from Laos)
.

I don’t know how they “decide” what Country a rider is from. Gabriel is not from America but he’s riding for us. He does live in Miami.

I think he has an unfair advantage since he’s done Lorenthos academy. (He can ride but damn his mom is annoying)

Bummer.. hopefully another shot next year. The competition from the Euro kids it so tough.

for sure, to make it to the 3rd day is an accomplishment in itself.

bummed for him but he's already planning his return :thumbup

The reality is the Rookies take kids from the States just to have someone out there. If you look at the more recent Rookies seasons Americans tend to be back markers, or mid-pack at best. We just don't have the programs for our young riders that they do in Europe, and the only Americans that seem to even do okay over there are the ones that are over there training.

In the States we excel with motocross. We know to start training the kids at a very young age, and yet somehow this knowledge isn't transferred over to road racing. If we want to be competitive on the world stage again we are going to have to do what Europe and Asia have done, and create programs here at home for very young (3yrs +) riders.

That's starting to change unfortunately, we used to dominate as des nations (and still do well albeit coming in 9th last year)
