Sunday - 10/20/2019 - Mt. Hamilton/ Mines Rd.

FreeRyde

The Curmudgeon
This looks to be a beautiful day of riding, nice cool temps. Could be one of the last clear weekends of the season!

Bottom of Mt. Hamilton 10/20/2019 at 10:00am in the usual dirt lot meet up spot. Depart by 10:30am - Brisk pace to The Junction for lunch/snacks.

:)

This is a "ride at your own pace, group ride, totally not a race" thing ride to get lunch with people on motorbikes.
All are welcome!

Group ride rules are as follows:
  • Don't crash
  • Don't try to keep up with someone that is faster than you
  • Don't ride off a cliff and crash
  • Have fun!
    • If you're not having fun, fix it.

There won't be a sweep, but I shall take a head count before we depart from the base of Mt. Hamilton.
We will stop briefly at the Lick Observatory before heading to The Junction.

The day will end with a quick ride back to Livermore via Mines Rd.

If you are interested in attending, please comment below.
I would like to give Mica (Junction owner) a heads up on how many people might be showing up at 11:30am for lunch.

Hey, I'd be down for this ride! Hamilton/130 has been on my bucket list for a hot minute but I haven't had the kick to get down to it till now. Would you mind sending a pin to the meet-up spot? I haven't done this ride before.

Looking forward to it!

EDIT: Yikes, just found out I can't make it. Wish y'all luck, I'll catch ya next time!

feeling good, not bad
I really want to do this ride but my tire is low on tread.

I have about 5500 miles on this Pilot Power 2CT, including nearly 1000 straight miles on HWY5. I've been trying to do as much canyon riding as I can to get the most out of this tire. It still sticks hard in corners. It's the center I'm worried about.

I got a new Road 5 but I wasn't planning to install it until Wed the 23rd at Moto Guild's tire changing workshop where they show us how to use a K&L tire change machine and I already paid $50 for it.

You think this tire is good for another ~200 miles?

I'm definitely in if someone can help me change out this tire for free or cheap.:teeth

I don't think so. Mt Hamie catches folks out all the time.
It might last.. but you will see chords by the time you get home.

Ask me how I know... Yup. Happened to me.. and one other friend just a few weeks ago who's tire looked just like that.

doesn't like crashing
Yeah... 200 easy miles on nice asphalt, sure, maybe. 200 miles railing Hamilton on rough chipseal? Good luck.

That tire will is pretty bad. Maybe if you only give it throttle in the corners it would be okay lol

And if it only lasts to the junction you will call for an expensive tow truck, worth several tires. People that crashed up there said the tow wasn't cheap.
