[UPDATE]Bike was found in San Mateo - left at a dealership who then had it towed. Also, including a link to video of the guy who stole it at between 1:30 and 2:00 am early Christmas morning. Not a face pic. You can see the bike in the top of the frame. The next video shows him pushing the bike across Stanyan St toward the park and then away.

My gf's bike (2014 Triumph Bonneville SE) was taken off of Stanyan St across from Golden Gate Park near the Whole Foods. We think it went missing Christmas Eve or very early Christmas morning. Reported to the police. Not sure what else to do but she is completely heartbroken. Still has the NY plate from her shipping it here when she moved.

Please be on the lookout. It's not a very common color from what I've seen around town.

VIN is SMT900K11ET627052
NY Plate # 94SG53

Has Wolfman (black w/ yellow logo) saddle bags and Koso Apollo heated grips.

Honestly, if anyone sees a white Bonneville, I'd encourage you to snap a pic and post location here. I never see one at all like hers.

Sorry to hear. As someone who had two bikes stolen in May, I feel your gf's pain. Good luck! (Both our bikes were recovered in a few months)

You called DPT, right? iIRC there are a number of overlapping parking restrictions on Stanyan.
Otherwise, sorry for your loss.

I'd love to hear more about how bikes are recovered, especially months later, and in what condition.

Mine was stolen and recovered too in 1-2 months.

A KLR, who steals KLRs????

Stripped of panniers and content, ignition punched out, muddy, dropped a few times, license plate gone, frame and engine guards removed halfway, $1 walmart clock removed, OEM toolpatch gone, one sticker peeled off...

Never the same bike, cleaned it up, made it road worthy again and sold it.

Once its gone, even recovererd, its best to come up to a logical solution, to her and go from there, mine was too much hassle.

THE worst was dealing with progressive adjuster assholes, be ready to be victimized one more time on top of getting your property stolen.:thumbdown

Here's hoping they get run over by a cement truck.
Lets hope it comes back with no wear and tear.... it sucks when you become the victim.
Many Sympathies to the gf

I’m just a few months shy of 4 years of getting my VFR stolen (in Sacramento) and still no word. my biggest fear is that it will be impounded for a month, they’ll hit me up for storage fees on a bike that I don’t want back, and then I’ll get to be victimized again by crooked tow companies with gov’t contracts.

Lic Plate # and VIN # would be helpful. Any distinguishing accessories, marks or other to look for?

Street Sweeping on the East side of Stanyan, Monday between 6AM and 8AM

They may or may not tow from those spots. They enforced Street Sweeping in SF during the holidays, at least the SFMTA did in our neighborhood.

I hope she gets it back!

VIN is SMT900K11ET627052
NY Plate # 94SG53

Has Wolfman (black w/ yellow logo) saddle bags and Koso Apollo heated grips.

As you noted, street cleaning is Monday morning and it was parked there Monday afternoon, and it was last seen there on Tuesday afternoon. And we did call SFMTA to be sure, as it could have been moved to another tow zone.

SF, how did I know before I even opened the thread.

Lol - maybe because I said so in the thread title? Or perhaps just because it's SF.

Honestly, I've had only one first-person irl account of a motorcycle theft in the city in the 8 years I've lived here, and I park my own bike on the street every night, so I don't really know how prevalent motorcycle theft is here compared to other places. Not as prevalent as car window smash-and-grabs, that's for sure.

Thanks for all the well-wishes everyone.

I totally just saw "stolen" and immediately thought SF. Guess it helps to read the whole title LOL. After all these stories of people backing into bikes, pushing them over for fun, stealing them, etc in SF, it's hard not to think otherwise. Unfortunately ☹️

Thanks. Insurance should cover the tow and any impound fees. I'm glad she had just gotten comprehensive coverage. The tow place said it looks fine other than the ignition wires being cut. Insurance should cover a new ignition switch too, minus the deductible of course.
