New to this area and was looking for some local advice on which shop might be better in the service department.

Working on 5+ year old information, but I'd probably check out Stockton first. I'll call my buddy and see what names I still recognize at both places.

modesto service dept is sketchy-depends who works on the bike-parts dept pretty clueless also.great place to buy though and there is food and drinks next door.

Thanks. Went to stockton yamaha today, parts gal seemed to know what she was doing. Once the parts come in, I will probably try the service department, unless I decide to do it myself, but not sure if my tail bone can handle sitting on the ground to change out a clutch.

If you've already ordered the parts, but want some help getting your bike fixed (correctly), check out DareDevil Motorsports in Sacramento. Probably a lot cheaper than a dealer, and the guys there are legit - they're helping me with my race bike this next year, and I'm EXTREMELY picky about who touches my bikes - to the point of almost never letting someone else touch them :laughing I trust these guys :) They have my brand-spanking new bike at the shop right now....like I said, almost no one out there I trust that much :thumbup

Modesto yamaha sucks. Only went there once though a couple of years ago. maybe they changed now. But I doubt it.

I'd say SHY is the better one out of those two. Id take my bike to STKN- Moto on Harding way near waterloo rd in Stockton. At least call them for a quote to slap in those new clutch plates. They do good work at way better prices than any dealer.
