Anyone know if the Stewarts point gas station is currently open? I'm planning on riding my DRZ out there tomorrow...but I'll need gas when I get there. (I tried calling but no answer)

Check out their FB page. Might be some info there or you can ask them. OTOH, pick up the phone and call.

Edited for clarity. The store is open.

What's your route? Its only about 80 miles from Jenner to Healdsburg via Stewart's point and skaggs or <40 from Jenner to Gualala, all of which have gas. :thumbup

Edit: if you're coming from the east I can see your pickle. You might have to trek up to Gualala. On the other hand, if you can do 80 miles, the stretch from Fort Ross to Jenner is some of the best highway 1 riding in the state.

I've heard that some folks carry spare gas in a bottle that was made for safely carrying gas,
And they attach that bottle safely... :teeth

This certainly isn't going to help you any, but I was there on a sunday 2 weeks ago and it looked open. There were cars in the parking lot and people hanging out. I've also heard that it's not open anymore so who knows.

I'm taking skaggs to stewarts point then south to jenner...but if I'm riding fast my DRZ drinks fuel....I have to look for gas at 80 miles. I think I can make it to Jenner, just hate worrying about it.

I would suggest you do as Lou recommended and bring a bit of extra fuel with you. I HATE riding slowly to conserve fuel and/or stressing about running out.

Just spoke with the store. No gas yet. Closest gas is Gualala 11 miles north.

That's nothing.
Large Gatorade bottle with tape on lid 2 inch air space works great.
Been using them for 10 years...

On the other hand.......carry a spare front tube.....

Got the skinny on gas at Stewart's point store... they're changing over to card pumps but the old pumps are too close to the building and the new pumps have to meet code which means they'll have to be moved... they're working on it but it might be awhile. On a good note...I had an epic ride all the way to Jenner...never got stuck behind a car anywhere! :)

Nice! I hope the card pumps pay off for them. I'm worried all the money they're putting into that place won't return very quickly based on the last two owners shutting it down.

I guess I'll have to make a point to ride up there and buy some junk food.

On this 23rd day of July 2016 ... all three pumps were corded-off. The nearest petrol south of Stewarts Point is the Ft Ross Store, 20 miles. To the north is Gualala.
