Stewarts Point General Store/Gas Closing

UPDATE: Re-Opened, no gas YET. OP: Stewarts Point General Store/Gas Closing

Buddy of mine went through there this morning and spoke to the owners. Apparently they are closing down for good. The Stewart family sold the store about 6 months ago and the new owners couldn't make it work financially so they are shutting down.

Just an FYI, that means no gas between Jenner and Gualala, so plan accordingly when riding the coast.

UPDATE:
Re-Opened. No gas Yet. Going for a ride up there tomorrow. Cazadero, King Ridge, Tin Barn, Skaggs, Stewart Point Sandwiches, and Skaggs back to 101. I'll take some pictures and report back on the "new" store.

An end of an era.
I've been going there since I was a kid. (family has property up that way)
This makes me sad.

I was just up there Saturday, but headed east on Skaggs before the store.

As many times as I've been through, I've never stopped there for gas. It's usually Jenner or Gualala for me. Still, sad to hear.

I stopped there plenty of times, had some great conversations with other riders on their porch, ate a hot sandwich and coffee. Great view from that spot.

I'm sad to see it go, it's a shame for sure.

That's a shame. I wonder if the tar snaking of Skaggs was a contributor to this.

I doubt it, Rod. Most of the folks who complained about the tar snakes were the same people who would do laps of the east part, only going as far west as the bridge. There aren't too many sportbike guys who enjoy the western part of that road, since it is bumpy and technical (and way more fun).

I haven't been on skaggs since May since it was all snakes that day but if you say it's fixed since then I'm due for a ride up there :thumbup

Stewart's Point store is having a liquidation sale this coming Saturday. No joke.

Are you implying that they're liquidating their Craft Beer inventory? :laughing

That does suck. Been in there for sandwiches myself. That's a cool place with a good vibe, and a great place for a break. I'll miss it. :(

That is a shame, the General store made a mean sandwich and provided a really scenic rest point. Met interesting people there every time too.

This.

Very sorry to hear they're closing. I've made a point of buying a sandwich and gas every time I've stopped there. :(
