Status of the eBike market?

Yeah for under $10k the FX/FXS is really the only one your going to get and the range is kinda meh on those. I've ridden the FXS and it's a whole lotta fun tho.

Now if you can find an Empulse like me you can get one for around $10k if you can still find one. I got mine for about $7500 after all the rebates and discounts. But good luck finding someone to fix it if it breaks as I'm finding out now :(

For about $3k more you get the Alta.

Now used you might be able to find more. Like Zero S models or SR maybe. I seen them go for around $10k fully accessorized.

If I didn't have the Empulse and were looking at an electric I'd look into the SR or DSR. Low maintenance and good range.

It's only a matter of time before the Japanese have electric offering!

Status: still for early adopters. EV Motorcycles are about 5 years behind the adoption rates of EV cars.

You can buy a demo/slightly used Zero SR for $10 -12k out of state and ship it here like I did.

Yes, you can get 'more' bike that is conventional, so you have to want a electric motorcycle.

A 2018 Zero SR with Power Tank extra battery ($)
110~220 miles of range (depending on if you are on the freeway or not)
Charge in ~1 hr onboard fast chargers like DigiNow ($)

I'm too early to get into the used marked as noted. I'll give it another 5 years. I can spend $2000-$3000 now on a petrol commuter and an ebike won't be 3x better

You can ride from the bay to LA now. The Energica bikes have level 3 charging capability. You can charge from 0-85% in 30 minutes. That's like a coffee break. They actually did this ride also to prove it could do it. There is an electric highway in California I think you can ride from socal to like reno stopping at Level 3 chargers along the way.

There was a dude who outfitted his ZeroSR (I posted about it on the sport touring forum) with superchargers (not the mechanical ones) and he did a 4 corners ride around the US. He would stop at RV parks and charge his bike up.

Even now there is the technology you can buy to upgrade the Empulse to be able to charge at Level 2 charging stations full 6kwh rate which would allow you to charge the Empulse from 0-80% in less than 2 hours.

The technology is here now but the cost is high. Also I find how often do you really ride those kinda of distances anyway. i know you have to be strategic where you're going but it works for me. If you routinely ride long distance all the time then electric is not for you. I have other bikes also for different kinds of riding.

If your commute is urban, would an electric bicycle do the job? You can buy new for your $2k-$3k price range and not have insurance or registration expenses.
