Splitting Behind the Revving Green Ranger

I figure the video speaks for itself, but holy shit was this guy obnoxious. Not even counting the bright neon green everything from the bike to the helmet to the highlighter green gloves. Kudos for being visible, I guess. But it was more his attitude and the constant. fucking. revving. I get that his bike has bags and is wider than most but there were so many times I had to slow up for him because he had to slow up and rev. He also had his hazards on the entire time, even when not splitting, which while makes sense, is illegal if memory serves.

I never felt quite comfortable trying to pass him because A. he didn't seem to ever give me a good chance to and 2. he was actually parting the sea fairly well, albeit through douchy methods. There was another rider behind me who I gave a few chances to pass me but he apparently didn't want to be behind ol' Greeny. I can't blame him, as I was having trouble focusing on my own positioning since I had to make sure he wasn't come to a complete stop for "not having enough room". Maybe I could have either hit the #2-3 split for a bit. I just wasn't confident I could get past him as his overall speed wasn't that bad.

And what the hell was he doing at the 1:20 mark? I don't think it's obvious in the video, but at every car he revved at and must have felt squeezed by (yet in reality had a metric shit-ton of room), he would glare at them for a good couple of seconds. :wtf

Also enjoy the irony of the moment he almost clips a Camry with his left side bag and doesn't even seem to notice. :rolleyes

As I passed by cars in his wake I seriously felt like I should be apologizing on behalf of the rest of us. Nothing he did was inherently dangerous, maybe aside form taking his left hand off the bars while actively splitting, but it was just best described as obnoxious and annoying and so many unnecessary things. If I ever come upon him again I'm absolutely removing myself from that equation.

I wouldn't have stayed behind him. Apparently he thinks he has to stay in #1, and he thinks everyone owes it to him to get out of his way.

Yeah rude and obnoxious. I can't stand that revving, especially if i forgot my ear plugs. It can be painful. And it is certainly unnecessary.

Yeah, should have found a way around him. I just want to exceed my usual delta to try and get past him and then maybe have him behind me, revving at me.

I used to come up on people like this all the time. They're being all dramatic and obnoxious, while I'd go around and silently pass them.

Something similar happened to me going home on Hwy 29 last night.
Some asshat on a loud cruiser wasn't skilled enough to split so he just blew people out of his way using his *throttle horn*.
He was clearly pissing everyone off around us. I finally couldn't take it anymore and slid by him in stealth mode out of fear he would try to block me.
When he caught up to me at the long light at Hwy 12 he rolled up next to me and nodded an enthusiastic greeting. I just glared back through my tinted visor with my best "Fuck you", then looked straight ahead again.
Tinted visors can be awesome.

^ Thanks for rubbing it in. :twofinger

And no, at least not yet. I've yet to find an effective way to get the word out that doesn't includes spamming the comments of other YT channels. I'm not counting on making a living from it or anything, though.

Try talking to TheSuperistDuke. He seems to have a fairly good amount of subs for the year he has been making content.

He's actually a friend and former coworker of mine and has given me some tips in the past. I have a feeling he'll also likely tell me it has something to do with that black and orange bike he's got. ;)

And millions of people watch the Kardashians. So, no accounting for taste. :p

Besides, I didn't see a camera on him. They must not make GoPros in green.

My Drift HD camera has an external mic jack and I have a mic routed inside the helmet tucked into the cheek pads.

So if we take this situation and change it from motos to 1992 Toyota Camrys, the whole thing starts to carry a bit less significance as an "event". Sounds like the guy was a bit of tool, but beyond saying that much, I'm not sure it's worth spending the brain cells on it. I've done my fair share of finger wagging at other riders and have come to the conclusion that it amounts to a lot of naval gazing. YMMV.
