The Stockton Motorcycle Club's annual Sonora Pass ride is this Sunday 7-26-2020. Our normal breakfast place is closed due to covid. Looks like a place in Sonora is serving outside we may stop there. Detail will be worked out at our meeting tonight.

UPDATE:
Sunday 7-26-2020 meet on Farmington Road by the Mobil gas station on the corner of Mariposa and Farmington.

The first group leaving at 7:00 AM to have breakfast at Barrow's Cafe and Grill 824 Mono Way Sonora CA.

A second group leaving at 8:00 AM to meet the first group in Sonora after they finish breakfast. I will be with the second group.

From Sonora, we will ride to Cold Springs for gas. Next stop Levitt Fall vista on the eastern side of Sonora Pass. Then lunch at Mountain View Bar B Q in Walker CA. We will come back over Monitor Pass and Ebbetts Pass. We will stop on the east side of Lake Alpine to regroup. Last stop gas in Arnold.

Hope to see you Sunday.

Bill

This is an all day ride.

Sonora Pass is in great shape, with new asphalt (as of last fall) from a bit past Strawberry up to the summit.

There are lots of people camping in roadside campsites all through the area.

I did a ride over a few weeks ago mid week. People like it was a holiday weekend. Everyone not working are camping.

I'm thinking about joining you for the 2nd rollout.

Would i be welcome as a mask-wearing, physically socially distant, experienced fellow rider?

I`d be riding out EARLY from Walnut Creek. :ride

I rode through there on Tuesday, and when I got to the Mountain View BBQ, I was dismayed to see a note in the window saying it was COVID-closed “because of the situation in the state of California.” I was sad, because I *really* wanted some BBQ.

But today, Google Maps is saying it *is* open. Might not hurt to give them a call to confirm.

The burger place in Walker was open though.

Thanks to the 14 riders who rode along on the SMC's Sonora Pass Ride. Great day just to many people and cars. I had 330 miles from my house and back. Several from the bay area had a 450 mile day.

Great pics! This is one of my favorite "long" day rides from SJ.

How does the BMW compare to the Multistrada?

Last Tuesday it was crowded up there too. There were about 6 cars at the big overlook at Monitor Pass - more than I’d ever seen before. I guess a lot of Californians who would normally travel out of state (or country) are staying home.
